5.0 out of 5 stars Object Oriented Programming Made Understandable, June 18, 2000
By
William Schultheis (Arlington, Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Simula Begin (Hardcover)
This is one of the best computer science text books ever written and probably the clearest and most readable one explaining object oriented programming. It transformed my understanding of programming when I first read it more than 20 years ago.

Simula was one of the first object oriented programming langauges, based on Pascal. Originally developed to do discrete event simulation, Simula was versatile enough to serve as a general purpose programming language.

The book is written for someone new to programming and starting out with an object oriented language. It has excellent examples and a systematic discussion of object oriented programming as applied to discrete event simulation. If you can find a copy of this out-of-print treasure, by all means get it!
