Using this as text in first ever simulation class. Although somewhat dry and difficult to read, this text provides a good background to use of Arena. Software itself is quite capable and outstrips the ability of the book to address many how-to's. I would recommend a companion workbook to serve as more of a user guide to Arena.

This is yet another book that is sold with the promise of additional resources to be found online. Unfortunately, these resources won't download, and the McGraw Hill website blocks any attempts to ask questions or obtain answers. Considering how expensive the book is in the first place, there really is no excuse for the poor level of service. I feel cheated.

This book is magnificient. It does an fantastic job of addressing Simulation with Arena from basic principles, to advanced techniques and tricks. The way the book is written is also a nice change. The description of the breakdown demon has to be the best description I have ever read in a technical work.

This book was probably the best book I have had in my studies of Operations Managment. It had a little humor, it explained MOST situations and problems. It would be nice it if could have been in color and emphasized important concept and terms in the margin. I definitely learned from this book and it was my friend during this class!

Very good book. Thoroughly explains simulation concepts and provides examples using Arena. My professor used it extensively for class discussion materials as well as labs. We did not cover the whole book, but was a good read despite being slightly boring as any textbook.

This was another book I procured for my ex. I helped with her homework as much I could but sometimes I had no clue what we were trying to accomplish so my brains would compensate by messing around. She didn't appreciate it. We fought. I live at my moms house now.

I am using the book in one of my process improvement and simulation class. So far, I can say it is helpful and would recommend it. Non-STEM people may not have to read all the chapters but they can at least get some basic knowledge on how to do some modeling.

If reading telephone books is your cup of tea, then this book is for you. If you're new to software 'programming' (understand that you're not writing code for Arena; however, the approach to designing your model and inputting the necessary data is a similar process), then this book's singular approach to demonstrating the techniques required could be quite maddening. Only real gripe other than an entire book written in same pitch/font/spacing is that references for end of chapter assignments point to later chapters in the book (i.e. material not yet covered) and subsequent chapter problems make the reader go back to previous chapters to dig out the problem specifics.

Overall, a very detailed explanation of Arena that needs help from 'the other side of the brain' to reach to those who didn't grow up in a computer lab and view problems in 256 colors vs black and white.
