Run out and buy this, dears...right now.,

Though the Genitorturers may be infamous for their elaborate, intensely erotic/sadistic stage shows, they also have the music to back their antics up (which other bands, like, say, Marilyn Manson, fail at.) "Sin City" proves to be an amazingly intriguing, sex-fueled, power-driven CD, and a major accomplishment. This disc is for everyone who has the insatiable hunger for metal, industrial, techno, and flat-out good talent. You will not be disappointed.

It's kind of hard to be objective about a CD when it's by one of your favorite bands so here goes. "Sin City" is one of the tightest collections of songs I've heard in a long while. Not to sound too much like a professional reviewer... but, you know, sometimes you'll buy a CD by a band and though most of the songs are pretty good there's one or two that sound like they half-[effort] it. You'll have none of that here. This new release is a vast improvement over "120 Days..." not that there was anything inherently wrong with it, but it was much more straightforward metal. "Sin City" definitely benefits from better production values and just generally has more texture and depth to it. The sound, for those so inclined, is hard to pin down as it doesn't fit neatly into any category but Darkwave/Industrial is a stab in the right direction if a bit quaint. Generally speaking, if you're a metalhead the Genitorturers may not be hard enough for you, and if you're a batcaver they're probably too heavy for your sensibilities.

it's good stuff. i'm still unable to decide whether to call it industrial or metal, but it doesn't matter much, because i can just call it great music. as i think someone already said, the Genitorturers' show is more famous than their music, so my expectations of this cd weren't especially high. big oops on my part. the cd is excellent. :) if you like loud, hard, exciting, dark, and erotic... buy this. now.

May not be for everyone....but one of my favorites.,

OK- first, let me point out that this album is actually more like a soundtrack to the Genitorturer's Live Act. If you've seen them live, or the vid- then you know what I'm talking about. This is NOT music produced by some Prozac-Popping whiner that simply goes on and on about how the world is unfair- "wah-wah."This is something, um- different. The cuts are like stories that are acted out on stage, in a very graphic manner. Each one is a different chapter. Each stands alone- but all are good. If you are just looking for some hard fast industrial- you have that, but there's a little more going on here than you may realize. I bought the cd after hearing "Sin City" on a local college radio station. I liked the songs, and played the cd quite often- then I saw them live, and was totally blown away. I'm only giving 5 stars because I think the engineering could have been better. Still an excellent cd.

A Million Times Better Than "120 Days"!,

What! I couldn't believe that, not only a mere ONE person reviewed this album, but they gave it just ONE star! ACK! I bought the album right after it came out and then saw them on tour, and I LOVE it! It's very different from their first record, but it's also BETTER. It's much more *rock*-oriented, and, I guess, *fun*... Plus the whole glittery Vegas/Sin City/Evil Circus theme is much more interesting; plain old S&M tends to get dull.

Sin City,

I had the immense pleasure of catching the Genitorturers live last month for the very first time. I absolutely hooked by their brand of industrial/metal. While at the show, I bought a copy of Sin City. I have been listening to Sin City day in and day out and haven't gotten sick of listening to the cd. All of the songs are great. They have great pop hooks but still are heavy and aggressive which is how I like my music. The production is not the greatest but I have heard worst production work over the years. Sin City is just a lot of fun to listen to especially at top volume.

By far my favorite Gen record. Brutal, bondage sexy industrial metal. Aggressive female vocals. Awesome live band as well.

after a few listenings it is an awsome album too, I managed to burn this one out from over playing it. Its a shame this band isnt more well known. Maybe some of its there own fault by being so underground and controversial they ensure never to hit mainstream. I seen them live in vegas. Paddling girls, stringing guys to crosses while they stitch up their lips (real blood and everything). I met her after the show and she said she takes so long gettign albums out because theyve been battling with their record companies.

Dark, edgy and well done,
By A Customer

I must admit that when I bought this album I had no idea what I was in for. I had heard the live cut of "House of Shame",(not on this album), and that had whetted my appetite to hear more of the band. I was pleasently suprised. Dark, edgy and sensually aggressive, this is a very listenable album. While the continual references to hell can get repetitive,(the reason why I gave the album 4 stars instead of 5), The Genitorturers pull off a dark style that's both varied and refreshing.

Gen gives a voice to all your little inner demons...layers it over music perfect for a haunted house (or strip club, whichever your preference)...all in all, a lovely sightseeing trip through a twisted wonderland. Heeheehee...We now know why man created the repeat button on our cd players. Compared to the little snippets of "120 Days..." that I've heard, it seems that Gen and the boys have fine-tuned their art a bit, but, then again, that's like comparing Siouxsie's "The Scream" to "The Rapture-" they're both very good in their own different ways.
