Power Trio,

Those guys are great, they gave a second wind to Henry Rollins on the album NICE and on tour but really they're as good on their own!A great piece of garage rock/blues.The sound is not very subtle but the arrangements on the songs and the power produced by the band make that album very rich.Mother superior is no stoner band or Motorhead-like power trio, but more a power rock band.I'm not surprised that great artists such as Rollins or Wayne Kramer would recommand them to us rocklovers.Nothing radically new under the sun here, but who cares...when it rocks it rocks!

3 stars = GoodThis was Henry Rollins' band on "Nice," & another album that I can't recall at the moment. A kick butt capable band behind Rollins, but by their selves? There are some real butt kickers here, but overall the song writing just is not there, not that it is a bad album, but not just a great album. Stick with Mother Superior backing up Rollins. Can't speak for the other Mother Superior albums out there. |
