Raw country with a sense of humor.. This record can't be beat! It's not top 40 material (thank god).. one of those records/cds that grows on you each time you listen. A++

I bought the first Carpetbaggers' cd used once just because I heard they had opened for Son Volt, so they can't be that bad. I went home and played it and thought what I was hearing was some of the greatest music ever. That is until I bought "Sin Now Pray Later" the next day. This album has got it all. Amazing music, the best lyrics out there, and loads of personality. It's definitely honky-tonk, but the songs avoid all the cliche' melodies and lyrics found in a lot of country albums. John Magnunson's strong voice and songwriting carry the group. This three piece band is THE BEST in country music today and this album is essential in any collection.

This album features some of the best writing, both musically and lyrically, in country music today. These guys write smart songs unlike most of the garbage in country music today. They'll never be a big hit but that makes them that much better.
