3.0 out of 5 stars Book has potential but falls short.... October 28, 2011
By Juaimee
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The book at the potential to be really good but fell short of its ideal for me. I had a hard time finishing it.

Evelyn and her sisters had a secret. They all that was left of the original daughters of Adam and Eve. Born of the garden of Eden, they were exiled after promising to bring positive energy to the earth. Living thousands of years and witnessing historical events, the girls contributed their gifts and love to bring good to the world. However, a secret sect within the Knights Templar have been successfully hunting and killing them for hundreds of years, whittling the girl's numbers down to five, believing the girls were actually products of evil.

This story centers around Evelyn and her journey to trust Rhett. I would love to say I loved it but the story was very uneven and even dry at times. While there was action, it was predictable. I knew what was coming, even who one of the bad guys was. And Evelyn puzzled me. For a character who lived centuries, successfully hiding from killers, Evelyn should have had more street smarts. Otherwise, she would have been killed many years ago. She had moments where I thought, "Are you kidding me?" Rhett was a treat though. I sympathized with Evelyn's fear about loving him, knowing his life span was just a blip on her immortal life radar screen.

I suspect the author plans several more books to detail the lives of the remaining girls. It was easy to care about the girls, however, I am not sure if I care enough to read another book in the series. The next book will have to be tighter and not so predictable.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Recipe for Young Adult Readers October 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
And Here's the Recipe:

Take one Part "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants"
Add one Part "Percy Jackson and the Olympians"
Add a touch of Romance
And a dash of Suspense

and voila! Sin and Sacrifice.

Just as a note: I wondered if this might be a Christian Novel based on the "daughters of Eve" reference found in C.S. Lewis' writings. It is not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Romantic Suspense with a Paranormal Twist May 28, 2012
By Carod
Format:Kindle Edition
Sin and Sacrifice by Danielle Bourdon is a romantic suspense with paranormal touches. Evelyn Grant and her four sisters are vacationing in Greece. Evelyn is kidnapped, and one of her sisters is murdered, outside an Athens nightclub. Evelyn is tortured for information she refuses to give: the location of Eden. Evelyn and her sisters are the remaining immortal daughters of Eve. The rest have been hunted and killed by a rogue group of the Templar Knights. Evelyn is rescued by Rhett Nichols who says he is a CIA agent. But both Evelyn and Rhett discover that things are not as they seem.
As with other paranormal romances I have read, Sin and Sacrifice is based on a system of mythology brought into our modern world. In this case, it is the biblical story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, the necessary suspension of disbelief was difficult for me. There are many logical, and historical, inconsistencies in the story which made it hard for me to relax and enjoy the adventure. Once I set those aside, however, I found I enjoyed the characters of Evelyn and Rhett very much and the novel was exciting and suspenseful.
