Lessons in Sin

Miss Clementina Smythe, the newest graduate of Miss Debenham's Finishing School, is worried. Though charming, well-spoken, and quite attractive, her obvious innocence may impede her current campaign to secure a groom—one wealthy enough to save her family from debtor's prison. In desperation, she turns to the rakish Richard Eversham, an expert at seduction who can teach Tina how to be everything any man could possibly want.

Richard's motives, however, are far from selfless. He finds the delightful Miss Smythe not only perfectly desirable, but perfectly suited to help him in his plan to entrap the man who killed his brother. But as the game turns more dangerous, Richard realizes the stakes may be higher than he imagined . . . for they include his life, Tina's safety, and their blossoming, undeniable passion.

About the Author

Sara Bennett has always had an interest in history, and to survive a series of mind-numbing jobs, she turned to writing historical romance. She lives in an old house, with her husband and animals too numerous to mention, in the state of Victoria, Australia, where she tries to keep the house and garden tidy, but rarely succeeds—she'd rather be writing or reading.

More About the Author

Sara writes romance with passion for Avon. An Australian, she began her career with Harlequin as Deborah Miles and moved on to Australian historical fiction, writing under the name Lilly Sommers (now reissued under the name Kaye Dobbie) before beginning her career as a historical romance author for Avon in 2000. She has also written paranormal romance under the name Sara Mackenzie.

It started off really well and the hero was really manly but then suddenly it spiralled unrealistically out of control and immature behaviour. The heroine though pretending to be proper easily accepts to be touch fondled etc as if she had no inhibitions not very real for someone experiencing this first time. Many things made no sense at all one example he took her off to his house in the end to protect her saying it is safe yet we are told that is where his brother was shot , he also knows bad guy is after them yet he lets guards go plus he says he can protect her when that would have been her brother's and father's job ???? yet he gets knocked out cold easily and she get taken lame lame lame!!!! cringe worthy statements 'her boobs played pick a boo with her hair' 'let me make it better 'because he was hard'
and 'Please let him catch murderer because he wont marry me till then' lame!!!!

Finally, with a big gust of fresh air I find a novel I greatly love! This novel had mystery, intrigue, a great romance and some great hot love scenes. Recently, I have noticed a pattern of authors leaving out the good stuff and making their characters flat, their love scenes short and stale. This is not the case with Sara in this novel. The lead Richard Eversham is so smart, charming and alluring that if I were not married I would snatch him up in a heartbeat. The heroine Clementina is plucky, determined and willing to do whatever it takes to get the man of her dreams. It is too bad that at the beginning of the novel that she thinks another man(not the hero) is the one she wishes to marry. Luckily, Richard takes their lessons of gaining her a husband and uses them to his advantage to get her to see that he is the right person for her. I got this book from the library and now I wish to purchase it, because it's that good. It also has a secondary romance which is just as great as the main romance. I would recommend this book to all historical romance lovers out there.

SIN WITH A SCOUNDREL by Sara Bennett is another interesting historical romance. Book 4 of "The Husband Hunters Club",but can be read as a stand alone. Be prepared to be swept away with Miss Clementina Smythe and Richard Eversham as they navigate love's undeniable passion. Filled with seduction, secrets, danger, deception, spies, betrayal, mystery, suspense, childhood friends, guilt, vengeance, and the Guardians. As lessons in sin turns into lessons in seduction, secrets are revealed and danger lurks on every corner. Fast paced and filled with engaging and intriguing characters. I have enjoyed each of the Guardians in this series,as each of them come into their own and find love and danger. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Above the Treeline. Details can be found at Avon Books, an imprint of Harper Collins Publisher, and My Book Addiction and More.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The H was gorgeous and described beautifully - I like the fact that he smiled with his eyes. The background story about him searching for his brothers murderer was interesting and kept the book flowing. The h could be a bit silly at times but I liked her too. I find the series name a bit off putting, as the book is far from being a stupid story about a girl hunting for a husband.
