Product Description

Venetia Hamilton is no stranger to erotic art - her father's lush paintings are one of society's secret pleasures. But Venetia has never experienced true desire. Not until she meets Michael Wyndham, the Earl of Trent - a powerful man who holds her future in his hands and awakens her curiosity with one searing kiss. His expert touch is only the beginning of her carnal education, but something more dangerous than submission may be the price she pays for such unimaginable delight...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sin, May 10, 2007
This review is from: Sin (Paperback)
Venetia Hamilton is the largely unknown, oldest illegitimate daughter of famed erotic artist Rodesson. When Rodesson's arthritic hands prevent him from painting, Venetia secretly produces his scandalous works. If her father could abstain from gambling and other wicked pursuits, she could easily earn enough to keep her younger sisters respectable. When Marcus Wyndham, the Earl of Trent, unexpectedly appears at her door, Venetia quickly realizes that one of her father's main characters is based on him. Unfortunately, her renderings have made the caricature more realistic than her father's version. Marcus, who doesn't need all of London talking about his licentious ways, informs Venetia that her father's gambling debts have been settled, and her sordid career is over. Although she isn't happy about this, there is little she can do.

After Lydia, her father's mistress, threatens to reveal her secret, Venetia, now without a steady income, believes she can reason with the woman. There's just one problem; Lydia is off to a weekend orgy in the country. Of course, the seductive Earl of Trent, a fixture in her private art and thoughts, could escort Venetia to the infamous party. Against his better judgment, Marcus agrees. Who else will protect the willful and innocent woman? Venetia, however, isn't the only one being blackmailed. Lydia seems to have something on everyone attending the party, including Marcus. In the midst of debauchery, intrigue, and danger, can Marcus protect Venetia...even from himself?

Combining breathtaking sensual abandon and a clever story, Sharon Page's Sin was a joy to read! Ms. Page deftly balances romance, mystery, and explicit sexuality. Often in erotic romance, the rocket hot passion comes at the expense of the story. Not so with Sin. The intriguing whodunit kept me guessing, while Venetia and Marcus left me panting for more. Marus was simply delicious. He is wicked, but he truly cares about Venetia. Venetia was a bit of a contradiction, ready to experience everything, but with no real idea what she's asking. At times her inexperience and stubbornness unnecessarily caused problems, but I thought her character worked well within the story. The orgy scenes were elegantly portrayed, overflowing with indulgent, deviant delights. Normally, orgies leave me cold, but I loved the juxtaposition of the lewd but tantalizing bacchanal and the beauty of Marcus and Venetia's evolving relationship. I was utterly captivated by the lush and vivid story. I simply couldn't put it down.

Sin is the complete package: a scorching hot historical romance with an engrossing mystery. I Joyfully Recommend Sin!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good read!, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Sin (Paperback)
I'm an avid reader of erotica and just finished this one. It definitely fit the definition of "erotica"! Lots and LOTS of sex, and in all forms: orgies, male-on-male, female-on-female, women-hanging-upside-down, LOL. A bit much, but it wasn't a serious problem for me. The plot was a bit of a stretch (seriously, is the reader supposed to believe that the well-bred, virgin heroine had NO CHOICE but to attend an orgy in order to save her family?!) but that's no surprise in this genre.

There was a bit too much anal play for my taste, and too many descriptions of bizarre anonymous encounters at the orgy. But the sexual relationship between the two main characters was interesting enough for me to keep this book in my library. It was well-written, too: I wasn't distracted by the bad writing as I am all too often.

If readers like Kate Pearce's "Simply Sexual" they will probably like this book, too. Similar sex scenes and action.

5.0 out of 5 stars "SIZZLING, HOT, AND OH SO SINFUL", May 12, 2009

OMG...sex, sex, and more sex on other page. Not just sex, but hot, saucy, jump off the page sex scenes. This was a fast read. I read this in one setting because I couldn't put it down. If you don't like romance books with cover to cover sex, then this is not the book for you. It also has a pretty good plot. I enjoyed how SP created the hero's (Marcus) character. He is already a reformed rake when the heroine (Venetia) meets him. Even though it was an erotic love story the hero is so caring and warm. The heroine is an innocent....However, she is not shy but willing to try everything forbidden. Some of the intimacy she initiates on her own. (my kind of heroine). They were made for each other. I mean the heat and passion/lust and eventaully love between the hero and heroine is awesome. I really enjoyed this story. If you like it oh so hot...then this is the book for you.

More About the Author

I'm a mother of two young children and wife of a terrifically supportive husband. I studied product design at university, worked for many years in engineering, but have always loved to write. Now, I'm happy to say I get to write most days, while still working part time in R&D management.

In my high school years, I read Fear of Flying and Blue Skies, No Candy, and decided that some day I too would become an author and write literary erotic stories (despite a certain lack of experience at that point). In pursuit of my dream, I penned some 'hot' books, pounding them out on a clunky manual typewriter with a faded ribbon.

Since I love creating sexy, wicked men who love pleasuring women, I gravitated to writing Regency set historical romances. Deciding to heat up my stories from sensual to erotic, I wrote A Gentleman Seduced, which sold to Ellora's Cave Publishing and was my first published novel.

Signing with Kensington's Aphrodisia line was a whirlwind'my editor emailed two days after receiving my proposal.

My 'call' ended up being on my answering message, but Sin sold on a chapter and a synopsis. Within one month, I sold 5 single titles and 1 novella to Kensington. So along with my beloved regency-set historical romances, I'm writing historical and contemporary vampire stories, all erotic. In some way, I can't quite believe that my dream of becoming an author has come true. And I am delighted to be writing romance, especially erotic romance, where I can share the power of love and intimacy with readers.
