5.0 out of 5 stars An Emotional Thriller
If you're looking for a fast-paced read that will engage your heart as much as your mind, then Elizabeth Delisi's Since All Is Passing is the book for you! Marie is a heroine to cry for, cheer for, and bite your nails to the quick for. Rebecca, the little girl whose kidnapping hurtles the story into overdrive, seizes your heart and won't let go. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
I finished this book in 2 sittings; I found it riveting and touching without being the least bit maudlin or far-fetched. The heroine, Marie, still subjected to the torturous memories of her past, has the chance to make a difference in the life of a young child; her determined actions force the plot to move as rapid and dangerously as whitewater and simultaneously flood...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Emotional Thriller, July 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
If you're looking for a fast-paced read that will engage your heart as much as your mind, then Elizabeth Delisi's Since All Is Passing is the book for you! Marie is a heroine to cry for, cheer for, and bite your nails to the quick for. Rebecca, the little girl whose kidnapping hurtles the story into overdrive, seizes your heart and won't let go. As for the kidnapper, he is terrible in the very banality of his villainy. Unlike so many of the overblown and poorly motivated bad guys that appear in thrillers today, this monster is both understandable and all too human. And that makes him all the more terrifying.

Since All Is Passing is an exciting and emotionally-satisfying read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Page Turner!, January 28, 2000
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
Marie Kenning, while sitting innocently in a cafe having her morning coffee, witnesses the brutal kidnapping of a little, red-headed girl. The experience recalls all too vividly memories of Marie's own tragic loss of husband and child. Determined to get away and try to forget her nightmares, Marie accidentally stumbles on the kidnapper. Without hesitation she determinedly puts her own life on the line in an attempt to rescue the little girl. Elizabeth Delisi has crafted a truly compelling novel. The characters are well-crafted and multi-layered. The plot is realistic and fast-paced. I literally could not put the book down. I recommend Since All Is Passing to anyone who wants a thrilling, unforgetable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sit down, hold on, pay attention, January 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
Sit down, hold on and pay attention. Elizabeth Delisi is taking you on a rocket ride in SINCE ALL IS PASSING.

At first I thought the characters would be paper-thin, predictable, and, ahem, not my style. After all, the protagonist is a young woman struggling to overcome grief. Get me some slam-bang action, looming evil, or at least a good car chase. Delisi did. And when I thought the story was going to wind down to cuddling and smiling and everybody living happily ever after, hell broke loose. Several times.

It must have been a blast to write this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Since All Is Passing, December 23, 1999
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
Marie Kenning has spent six years trying to cope with the loss of her husband and child. Her colorless but comfortable routine is shattered when she sees a little girl being kidnapped. A stunned Marie feels helpless and even guilty. Officer Chris Whitley is attracted to Marie and she begins to feel the same stirrings for him. However, Marie's obsession with the missing child concerns Chris and he agrees that it would be good for her to get away for a few days. Thus begins an even worse nightmare. When Marie sees the kidnapper, no one believes her, so it is up to her to follow him and rescue the child, Rebecca. Suddenly Marie becomes the hunted one as she and Rebecca try to get safely home. This thriller grabs you by the throat and holds you to the very last page! A quick read--a must read! I give SINCE ALL IS PASSING my highest recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a read!, December 19, 1999
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
When Marie Kenning witnesses the abduction of a child she can't turn her back. Officer Chris Whitley suspects the child is dead and doesn't want Marie involved in the investigation. Marie, remembering her own dead child, is determined to find and rescue the little girl. Knowing only that the kidnapper's car carried Pennsylvania plates, Marie sets out alone in dangerous pursuit. I read this heart-grabbing story in one sitting. Don't miss it. Just don't forget to breathe occasionally or you'll pass out from the suspense!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let This One Pass You by!, August 24, 2004
This review is from: Since All Is Passing (Paperback)
There are times when all you want is to curl up with a relaxing book. And then there are times when you want a book that will cause you to leave nail marks in the arms of your chairs. For nights like that there is Since All Is Passing, a fast-paced suspense that will leave your palms sweating in sympathetic anxiety.
Marie Kenning is the victim of a terrible tragedy. In one instant both her husband and unborn child were killed in a car accident. Six years later, she has been unable to heal. The only highlight of her life is seeing a little redheaded girl the same age her child would have been walk to school every morning from the window of a greasy spoon. But one rainy day, a beat up Mustang pulls up to the curb outside of the diner and the redheaded girl is yanked through the window before Marie's horrified eyes.
She helps the police as much as she can, but guilt at not being able to stop the kidnapping plagues her until an amazing coincidence spurs her into action that ultimately redeems and helps heal her wounded heart.
Since All Is Passing is a magnetic example of an ordinary person enduring the extraordinary. The reader is immediately caught up in the story's spell and not released until the end. Fortunately Since All is Passing is a quick read because you may find yourself unable to put it down.
Marie is a compelling and intelligent heroine, and the reader can easily believe that she is just a good person doing what is right not what's easy. The tapestry of the story is tight with no lose ends nor snags.
One event progresses logically to the next. The book is a natural thriller and does not depend on elaborate plots and twists to entangle but draws on reader's innate fears. Simply put, it's suspense in its most elemental form.
Delisi is an impressive writer and choses her details well. The book is not sparse on description nor is it bogged down.
Definitely pick it up, but put a few hours aside. The book will get your blood pumping but leave you with a smile on your face.

Don't you just hate that term? Well, I do too, but it applies to this book, in the sense that that is what you find yourself saying over and over again as you read. A non stop, can't put it down great read! I warn you, don't start this book unless you have the time to devote to doing just that. If you don't set the time aside, you will go crazy with suspense!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast-paced, suspenseful read, May 3, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Since All is Passing (Mass Market Paperback)
Very suspenseful, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable. And the pacing...wow, eight pages into the book the main character has lost her husband and unborn child, and then watched a little girl get kidnapped...and that kind of tension is sustained until the end! You've got a vicious villain, a sympathetic heroine, and plenty of genuine thrills...don't miss it!
