I really can't say enough good things about this album! I only just heard of Gary Barlow and came upon his music by listening to his duet with ABBA's Agnetha Faltskog and thought it was brilliant! I then checked out this CD and have to say that I am a true fan of his now! This album is intelligent, emotional, spiritual, pop music that runs the gamut from the pop anthem "Face to Face" (duet with Elton John) to the gut wrenching "Dying Inside" that you have to be inhuman not to get wet eyed when hearing it. Many lyrics concern his overcoming some truly overpowering misfortunes he has suffered since his early boy band days. "Requiem" and "Let Me Go" use Beatles-like rhythms to express how he coped with this daughter's stillbirth. "Since I Saw You Last" deals with his return to success from his days in the professional abyss when nobody wanted to work with him. Despite the dark places he has walked through, the overall tone is upbeat and victorious. This is an album of overcoming. Gary Barlow's voice is his greatest instrument and he is very skilled at using it to take you to the places he wants to take you. This album is great from beginning to end!

This is, hands down, Gary's best solo work. There isn't a bad song here - not even a mediocre one. This is an album of intensely personal, raw, beautiful (and catchy) songs that only get better with each listen-through. If "Dying Inside" (written about the stillbirth of his daughter Poppy) doesn't make you shed a tear, nothing will. Incredible album from start to finish. Well done, Gaz.

I choose to give this CD a 5 start rating simply because the CD is THAT good! I do not like 'pop' music at all, but this Gary Barlow is something else entirely ~ with a sound that is reminiscent of the Beatles with an Elton John flavor, but he stands on his own and shines with his own light. Usually there are one, maybe two tracks on a CD that just do not match the others, but not here ... the entire project is wonderful! Now to purchase Gary's other projects because I am hooked!

Really enjoying this CD. Music much better than his past releases. Wish we could get the videos to these songs. iTunes doesn't even carry. Thanks Amazon for carrying this Brit's music.

I am a new Gary Barlow fan. My daughter put his song "Let Me Go" on my ipod, She had heard it when studying abroad in England and thought I'd like it. It was one of those songs that hooked me right away and I couldn't stop listening to it. His voice and the emotion that came through in the song was so intense. I ended up buying the album and I've started listening to it this week. I also love the first song, "Requiem." It does have a bit of a 'Beatles' feel to it as another reviewer pointed out ~ but it's a great song even though it seems to be written for the people who would come to his funeral. Many of these songs are sad, as someone pointed out, since he did just lose a child. I usually listen to classic rock oldies from the 60's to the 80's, so it's nice to find some new music that I enjoy.

The lead singer of UK boy band Take That. He has a unique voice that is full of expression and emotion. His song writing is whimsical and insightful. The title song Since I Saw You Last is personal and triumphant. A nice stab at the producers that dropped his recording contract all those years ago. An interesting amalgam of British Rock N Roll and American Folk music.

The third solo album from Take That frontman Gary Barlow showcases not only a great voice but also great arrangements and beautiful songwriting. The album is great from beginning to ending and is worth several spins, that it no surprise that he outsold fellow bandmate Robbie Williams.

I love this album. Well done Gazza. Not a single bad song on the whole cd and how good is the track Let me go! Also the best thing old Elton John has done in quite some time. Can't recommend this album highly enough. Get it and do not stop listening to it as you will be humming the tracks non-stop. John, Canberra Australia.
