2.0 out of 5 stars Eeek, I didn't like it
I bought this book on a whim and didn't not care for it. Throughout most of the books was some Texas humor that I enjoyed however I didn't care for the hero. There was very little chemistry that I felt between him and the heroine. The plot was iffy too. There were points in the book where I had to stop and say "What on earth". For myself I did not enjoy this book and...

5.0 out of 5 stars amusing Texas amateur sleuth second chance at love romance, August 31, 2004
This review is from: Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash (Mass Market Paperback)
In Salt Lick, Texas, someone murders wealthy but odious Pearl Ann Carruthers. Because of her nasty haughty ways, most of the townsfolk detested Pearl Ann, but who would go so far as to commit homicide has proven difficult to law enforcement officials. Salon owner Debbie Sue Overstreet figures she can have some solid gossip to share with her customers since her former spouse Buddy is the sheriff and on the case.

When Debbie Sue learns that Peal Ann's family is offering a reward of $50K, she decides to do some sleuthing, but knows she must not let Buddy learn what she is doing or he would take a fit. She also knows she must coax him into revealing insider information without his knowing why she is asking him; the latter is simple as he is a man and she can pretend it is for salon gossip. However, as Debbie Sue stumbles about, the killer keeps an eye on her to make sure that she does not get unlucky because she will die if she learns the truth.

Dixie Carter provides readers with an amusing Texas amateur sleuth second chance at love romance that will have readers loving every move that Debbie Sue makes. The story line is action-packed as the heroine decides that detective work cannot be that hard as Buddy does it so well, not that she demeans the best former spouse in the world. Buddy is a bewildered flabbergasted straight man to the wild antics of Debbie Sue (who converted a gas station into a hair salon). Sequel is in order for this delightful pair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Since It's Over... Give Me Another One!, November 11, 2004
This review is from: Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the best books I have read in a long time!!! It was like I was sitting beside Debbie Sue (getting my hair done...lol) through everything!! I cried and laughed with her through-out this novel. Considering the title of the book and storyline, I'd have to say this would be considered an all-in-one novel. Humor, romance, and mystery... such a great combination! From the moment the title jumped out at me with a chuckle, I knew I would love this book! I just didn't realize how much! I read this book within 4 days. Debbie Sue, Ed, and Janine (lol) are my kind of gals! Can't wait for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute mystery!, October 17, 2005
This review is from: Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a very cute book about a VERY Texan woman and her love for a man that she thinks doesn't want anything to do with her.

However she is quite wrong and in between figuring out what is right and wrong for her and solving a mystery they figure out that they really do love each other still. It had lots of friendship and a bit about horses but not enough to put you off. If you are from Texas you will probably side with this book.

I love a cowboy as well so my imagination ran wide with this book! Good book to read at the beach or on a relaxing day!

If you're looking for a book with a lot of hot sex in it, don't buy this one. But if you're looking for a hilarious book, with great characters, this is the book for you. I had a hard time putting it down and suffered today at work from lack of sleep. I hope the author writes another one very soon!

The characters were a hoot, and quite memorable. The story line did get a little redundant and dragged some, but all in all the book was really good. I look forward to the authors' additional books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny! Funny! Funny!, September 13, 2005
Let's face it, sometimes you don't want to have to think about anything. You want to curl up with a good book and relax. This book is the perfect book for doing just that.
Laugh out loud funny, extremely southern, with just enough seriousness to keep you captivated.
Very well written according to southern standards! I enjoyed this book! I can't wait to read another one by these fabulous authors.

What a great read! When I found out Anna Jeffrey was writing a romantic comedy with her sister, I knew it would be good. I just didn't know how good and funny it would be. Dixie's characters are interesting and full of emotion, and I feel like I know these people. I swear I've driven through Salt Lick, Texas, even though I know it doesn't really exist. The story is well told and the humor appropriate and timely. I laughed out loud through Quint's misfortunes, nearly cried with Debbie Sue more than once, and didn't want the book to end. I know there's a sequel, and I can't wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page turning *FUN* from beginning to end, September 17, 2004
This review is from: Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash (Mass Market Paperback)
Life is pretty boring in the small Texas town of Salt Lick. Nothing exciting ever happens until Pearl Anne, the wife of the richest man in town is found shot to death in her Cadillac. It's up to Buddy (the town Sheriff) to determine if it was suicide or murder.

Debbie Sue (Buddy's Xwife) is a local hottie who owns a beauty salon. She's best friends with the beautiful Edwina & CJ and together they are determined to solve this crime to collect the $50,000 reward.

I really enjoyed reading "Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take out the Trash". From the moment I read the title, I knew I would enjoy it. First time author, Dixie Cash brings home the smiles for her crazy & unusual characters that you would love to have in your circle of friends.

I can't wait to read what she's got in store for us next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't disappointed, September 16, 2004
This review is from: Since You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash (Mass Market Paperback)
I usually read only authors I've read before, don't want to waste my money on someone new. But the title and the cover intrigued me. I'm so glad I did. Where do people that write like this hide. These sisters aren't kids so I assume they've been living a life and it shows. The humor is off the scale funny. The characters are real and I hated to see the book end.
Keep it up Dixie Cash, you have another devoted reader

Since I have lived in West Texas all of my life, I could probably relate to this book better than most. You could tell it was written by Texans, and I thought it was a hoot. Some parts of it were laugh-out-loud hilarious! Good easy read!
