I got this just because it is on revelation records; how lame is that. End of a year now named End of a year self defense family are from Cohoes,N.Y., close to Albany, state capital which for some reason is rated in 100 most dangerous cities. These guys are big locally getting the attention of Jordan Cooper of Revelation who put it out with Deatwish of all labels putting the 2010 release "You are beneath me", out which I did not like at first, kind of like a kid who never drank coffee then tries it for the first time but then drinks it everyday for the rest of their life. This album I loved from first play and could play all the time but I tend to save it for that special moment. The beats are driving like a train going cross country being fed coal billowing black smoke with the singer yelling, "Get out of the way Jack ass before you get hit". They name each song after a famous actor or actress and make lite of some short falling they have humorously. I am going to say this is punk/hardcore humorous jazz that goes well with the Deadmilkmen (similar tempo as well). Dance radio stations could play this and people would think hey that was cool, play more of that but thats not going to happen. Right now if you got $5 the c.d. is yours and if you got another $5 The Deadmilkmens "The King in Yellow", is available on mp3 through amazon. Something to make city traffic a comedy show while your driving in rush hour or all day long like I do here in N.Y.C. in a yellow cab. I guess my next move is to pick up Wessley Willis from Chicago (R.I.P.). It seemed like the seagulls like the music when I was in the cab line at J.F.K. airport but thats because of the cover. Another album which made me think the birds liked the music is "The Twilight Transmission" also on Revelation records which has a more serious tone but I still think its fun. Life's to short to be so serious all the time.
