5.0 out of 5 stars Damn Good Album !!
This album gives the feel of a great dive bar band up on stage gritting it out through a hard and edgy set !! Tunes like "Something More", "Arctic Ocean", "Silent Acquiencence",and "Bitmap" showcase a band that has it clicking on all cylinders !! The drummer and bass lay down a great tempo...in fact I'd go so far to say that these are the best one-two punch in the biz...

3.0 out of 5 stars There Is Talent Here
There is talent here is this Nu-Metal band, and that is a big reason to buy this album. The strong vocals and creative song writing by Jamie Stem is another reason to buy this album. I agree with the "Alice in Chains" influence here, but there is also a Korn one as well. The band supports Stem in the way they did Davis on Korn's first album. I believe this...

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely something to build on!, October 11, 2002

This review is from: Sinch (Audio CD)
First off, if you're looking for some psycho metal ranting, don't pick this CD up. Sinch has crafted a style that is rarely seen in the musical industry: their songs are hard (for the most part), but can be very sweeping and melodic at the same time, not unlike Fuel (the difference being that Sinch seems to hit this target much more consistently). This lends itself to a very intense (but not insane) type of music, especially if you are the type of person that actually listens to the lyrics. "Something More" is by far the strongest track of the album, but upon further listenings, all of the songs(even the uncharacteristic "Passive Resistor") begin to grow on you, especially if the lyrics are taken into account.
So if you like bands like Slipknot or Flaw, don't bother. But if you are into more emotion-driven altrock, such as Fuel or TrustCompany, I would definitely recommend Sinch. They show some incredible potential on this album, and I suspect that once they find their niche (or carve their own) in the altrock industry, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

This album gives the feel of a great dive bar band up on stage gritting it out through a hard and edgy set !! Tunes like "Something More", "Arctic Ocean", "Silent Acquiencence",and "Bitmap" showcase a band that has it clicking on all cylinders !! The drummer and bass lay down a great tempo...in fact I'd go so far to say that these are the best one-two punch in the biz right now. Haunting and clean acoustic guitar yields to amped up distortion at just the right moment to make the songs memorable....combine this with great lyrics and a solid front man vocal and it all adds up to make this a great jam session! The angst-ridden screams in "To Die In Fall" could use a little polish to make them more harmonious but their is a certain perfection in their inperfection...they are raw, rough and ragged....and to the lead vocals credit he can be quite melodic when he stays in his range !! A [DANG] GOOD ALBUM for those that like hard-edgy-guitar-rock-metal.....it has kind of a Staind meets early-unpolished-Queensrhyche feel or maybe a Bush crossed with Disturbed flavor!! Either way it rocks !!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best CD you have not bought yet! Simply mind-blowing!!!, March 29, 2003
This review is from: Sinch (Audio CD)
Sinch? Who's Sinch? relax, w/ album like this, I'm sure more will come out of these guys. Why do I say that? It's b/c that this album is just so incredibly, rediculously, outstanding! Sure, sinch doesn't put there first self-titled album into a cover to cover listen, but more of like a bush, sixteen stone single fest. The unfortunate thing, for sinch, is that probably only "something more", will be the only single off this album. "armslength", "seven", "plasma", "433" can easily be singles. The only problem is that this type of music that sinch has to offer has never before been heard by anyone. When I first heard this album all the way through, it reminded me something of a staind album, but after a 2nd time, I realized that it was something special.

Sinch brings not just "something more" (which is clearly the best song) the also bring "something new" (not a song) to the mainstream market. This new dark rock, crazed guitar, spine tingling vocals, and awe-shocking sound effects. If you want to compare them to someone, you'd have to combine linkin' park, staind, alice in chains, pearl jam, and maybe stabbing westward (for those sw fans out there). The thing that sinch differs from all of these bands is that they perfect the sound.

Look for a 2nd album in about 2 years or so. It will probably be better than the debut. Look for it to be more listener friendly, w/ more than 2 singles. Just wait, sinch is the next best thing in rock!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album of 2002- Hands Down, July 14, 2004

Sinch have put together an amazing CD here. It wasn't a major commercial success, but that doesn't mean much when it comes to quality of music. Hell, this is the one hard rock band that doesn't sound just like everything else on the radio these days.

The good stuff- It's great. The whole album is. The songwriting is excellent, and no two songs sound the same. That's part of the album's appeal, just listen to the transition between "Passive Resistor" (the heaviest song) and "The Arctic Ocean", which is a much slower acoustic piece. You can hear Sinch's influences at times (Tool and Alice in Chains), yet they don't sound like either, or anybody else for that matter.

It kicks off with "To Die In Fall", an excellent song which sets the dark tone for the album. First single "Something More" is a powerful song; with a radio-friendly sound and haunting lyrics, it has a lot of emotion put into it, and is well executed. Singer Jamie Stem has a unique voice, he has a good range and can shift from singing to all-out screaming efficiently. He uses it impressively with rage in the bridge of "Passive Resistor".

The best stretch of songs is from 8-10. "Plasma" is a beautiful ballad-type song, one of the slower songs, but one of their best. From there, we go to "The Silent Acquiescence of Millions", which is an epic song over 8 minutes in length. It's a song with quiet verses, loud choruses, and an even louder bridge. The brilliant lyrics are about becoming numb to everything, and everything being the same. It's a very dark and intelligent song, deeper than most everything else these days (Seriously, when was the last time you heard Puddle of Mudd or Nickelback use the word acquiescence in a song?). Song 10 is "Bitmap", which starts off with keyboards for the first 2 minutes and sounds nothing like anything else on the album. It erupts into a full out heavy rock sound after this. One of the best on the album for sure.

In conclusion, this album is brilliant. All around, one of the best of the past few years, and it's extremely underrated. Check it out for some great original music, and if you really want to experience the band in full, see them live with the ocular noise machine. It really adds to the show. I'd recommend this one to anybody and everybody. 10/10, no question.

this album is amazing. If you've ever been to a live concert you know the feeling of when you get the chills down your whole body.
Well this cd does it almost every time I listen to it. Jamie stem writes the tracks & performs with such emotion its just not describable. This cd hasnt left my cd changer since my friend gave me a copy of the cd. and on a side note if you pirate the music the artists will stop making it so if you enjoy the songs and burn a copy then buy like a shirt or something of the bands

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinch are amazing, January 2, 2003

Quite simply, Sinch are the freshest sound to come out of the music industry in the past couple of years. Each track is incredibly infectous and provides listeners with rollercoasters of emotion. "Passive Resistor" is truly genius, and you will not find anything else like it if you try (fiery rage to frost bite despair are combined elegantly). "Tabula Rasa"'s riveting bass line will literally hijack your sub-woofers with each bombastic, resonating second--escalating to a climax with such an energy and passion that cannot be described. "Plasma" is beautiful, consider it an acoustic bleeding. Try as you might; you will not find any music this diverse or addictive anywhere. The only band that comes close is the supergroup Audioslave. But also having been to a Sinch concert and having a strong connection with Sinch, I can tell you that Sinch are the real deal. Lead singer Jamie Stern pours every ounce of his essence and passion into his performance. Sinch are truly in the business for the right reason: the music. And the results are incendiary.

4.0 out of 5 stars An album with much to offer, October 22, 2003
This review is from: Sinch (Audio CD)
When I first got my hands on this cd, I was thinking it was one of those with "one or two good songs + garbage".

After listening to the whole album twice however, I couldn't have been more wrong.

With songs like Armslength, Die in fall, and Arctic ocean, you get a wide variety of flavors. My personal favorite is "Bitmap"
which is eerie and yet catchy.

Definitely a must buy, I would recommend this and Orphan, by Darwin's waiting room.
