We gave this to our almost-3-year-old son for Christmas and we have already had so much fun with it. He and all of his cousins have been taking turns singing duets and I am not even tired of hearing them. Most reviews I read were great, with the exception of quick battery burning, but we have had this thing going for 5 days strait for hours at a time, playing cd's and 2 microphones and it's still going on the batteries that it came with.... not even duracell. If you kids love music like ours do, it's worth the money. So far the only negative.... losing your voice from singing.

I bought this CD player for my granddaughter for her 3rd birthday and she loves it. Her mom says she plays with it and sings along with the CD's every day. I was impressed with how well it was made and how easy it is for a 3 yr. old to operate.

i got this for my boys (age 19 mos & 3 yrs), so they can not only listen to music, but press the buttons and make it work themselves. i wanted to get something durable and easy to use. so far, we really enjoy the cd player, but we've only had it for a few weeks. we have not used the karaoke function. my only complaints are: the volume doesn't turn down low enough -- it's blasting. and, it was fairly expensive... especially if it doesn't hold up to the punishment that kids can inflict.

My daughter loves this toy, and I love it's durability and quality. It was a great gift that she hasn't stopped playing with in months.

We gave this to our son for this 3rd birthday and as soon as he opened it he grabbed the microphone and started singing. It has been dropped several times and the CDs are fine no scratches. I only thing i don't understand is when ever the CD is stopped the volume setting returns to zero and no volume control for the microphones. So the only thing you will hear is the sweet voice of your children loud and clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my budding star with minor annoyances, but durable and useful!, November 29, 2010

My daughter LOVES singing and music, so for her 2nd birthday, I bought her this CD player. At the time, there were not too many reviews and they were very hit or miss, but really there is not much of market for children's toy radios with microphones so I took a chance and I am glad I did. It's been 6 months now and she really enjoys it. It has held up well to rough handling by a 2 year old as well as her constantly sticking the microphone in her mouth with the "aaaaaaaaaahhhhh" as another reviewer mentioned. I haven't bought an AC adapter yet and agree it would be nice, but my daughter likes to move around and dance with it so I'm not sure it would work for her, but truthfully the first set of batteries held up well and I'm now on my second set of batteries after 6 months. The only things that I think could be improved about this is that: 1) the volume can be a little wonky. You have to set the volume up very high, like over 20, to really hear it. The lower volume numbers are ridiculously low. Also, the microphone seems to have MUCH a louder volume as compared to the music no matter what. 2) The microphone coil is pretty short (which might make sense for safety reasons, but it is not unusual to hear that screeching noise due to microphone interference. Obviously, I would prefer microphone interference to a strangulation hazard, but if they can't make the coil longer, then I think they need to address the microphone interference. 3) while I really like the hold function which prevents the child from constantly rewinding, fast forwarding, stopping, etc. while the music is playing, it has a drawback, which is that the child CAN open the cd player while the hold button is on. So if they are very determined like my daughter, they can succeed in playing with the buttons to make it do something other than play music, such as insert, remove cd player, stick your finger in when cd is spinning. Frankly, I think the open and close feature should be disabled while a cd is playing. Now, these are just helpful suggestions if the maker was interested in improvement, but I am actually really happy all in all with the CD player. Seems like I got lucky because it's been 6 months and it keeps working. Also, shop around for this, because the prices are highly variable.

UPDATE: This product is still going strong 10 months later. I would say that the microphone interference can be annoying particularly because you can actually have the microphones turned off and still get a tiny bit of static/interference. Again, not hugely annoying but still weird. Looking into other CD players with microphone for kids, it seems like this is a problem across the board with some microphones that actually stop working.

The other thing that is great is that my daugther is not yet 3 obviously cannot read yet, but because the CD players had distinctly shaped buttons (some are squares, triangles, octagon/hexagon, circles, etc.) she is able to memorize that the triangle is for playing and the square for stopping, the smaller up and down triangles for volume control, etc. I think this is advantageous for a smaller group of kids than a CD players with all circular buttons let's say.

Not the greatest CD player but very durable for young children. The microphone sound quality is pretty low but my son has loads of fun with it regardless. Great for young children learning about music. I personally think it's priced a little high for what you get.

My 3 yr old received this for Christmas and LOVED it. Unlike some others, this has decent volume on both the CD and microphones. She loved to hear herself sing along to songs and played with it every day. One day (2 months later) it just wouldn't work, changed the batteries but still won't work. Unusre what happened, it was not dropped or damaged. Of course, we have no packaging to return it so are now stuck with it. Daughter is very disappointed.

Our granddaughter doesn't get the karaoke thing, but has fun with it anyway, and sings on her own...I research a lot before I got this one and so far, so good
