Basically, it's one of the few CDs we have owned that both kids and adults have loved. We play it several times per week in the car. You WANT your kids to know the words to these songs. And you want to know them, too. (And as a bonus: Within a short amount of time, you'll all have memorized the 50 states, in alphabetical order.)

My grandma bought this as a cassette for my sister for her 6th birthday. We listened to that tape all the time all year round and on all our family trips. Since then we have grown up and moved a couple times. During the moves she lost the tape and the whole family has been sad. So for her 17th birthday this year I decided to look on amazon and there it was on cd. I bought it and she loves it! The whole family is listening to it together. It is great! The quotes and songs are so wonderful and uplifting and you can sing right along. This collection of patriotic songs should be in every American home!

This is a great pariotic CD that children enjoy. We use it our our school to sing a patriotic song each day. We enjoy the quotes too.

I love this cd! I first heard it years ago when I was a student teacher in an elementary school. A different song from this cd (tape, back then!) was used as part of the morning announcements. When I became a teacher myself, I used the tape as part of my class morning routine, and in no time my students were singing along to the Star Spangled Banner and singing the names of all 50 United States. I love how kids are used to to sing the songs. The tape eventually gave up, and I somehow lost the second copy (a cd!) so I recently bought this book and cd set for my own children to listen to. Still as wonderful as ever, except this time I noticed they made some changes and added and removed some things to make it a little more politically correct. Just to clarify, I put off buying this for a while because this is listed as a book, but it's actually a book AND cd set, so the kids can sing along with the songs and learn the words rather quickly.

I have used the Wee Sing America songs in my 2nd Grade Classroom for over 15 years. I've had to purchase this collection several times because I have literally worn it out. I use this collection for our morning openings right after the flag salute as well as singing performances for parent shows. My former students (now high school graduates) come back to visit me and always tell me they can still remember all 50 states in alphabetical order from one of the songs from this collection. I highly recommend this collection to all parents and teachers.

I have been using this CD and book to teach my three children patriotic songs and historical information for about 2 years. They love the songs, even the 3 year old learned them. I love having the lyrics and other information in the accompanying book. I think that it is very well put together. Every verse of every song is not sung, so if this is an issue for you, find another CD, but if you just want the first verse, and sometimes second verse, it is wonderful! My oldest 2 children and I now know all 50 states in alphabetical order. The singing on the CD is quite good, mostly by children ("Wee Sing"). Overall, I think it is well worth the money.

This is a wonderful way to teach children songs of the past! They are lively and fun as well as educational. Yes, some songs are shortened but it gives them a taste of what they like. It is our job as parents to dig deeper as our kids show intrest in different areas of history. This is a helpful tool not an exhaustive composition of every old song. As for the sexist comment of another reviewer...Oh dear, I just have to laugh! Do you not realize that the presidents WERE men who were quoted?? Did it occur to you that maybe the girls were not interested in quoting men? Why does there have to be some scheme against women? Good grief! Enjoy the music and try not to ruin it for your kids by making up political issues out of it. This is about making history fun, not politics of today. My 6, yes, 6 children love these songs....even the girls who NEVER even noticed a boy was saying a few quotes! For all of you other people who know how to teach your kids to enjoy history I highly recommend this lively, catchy CD. The Wee Sing folks have made another winner!!!

The best thing about all of the Wee Sing books is that the singing is done by children for children. The choice of songs is quite comprehensive, including patriotic selections as well songs from our American history. The songs tell the story of the struggles and successes of our young country. It works well in all of my classes, from Pre-K through 6th grade.I hear them singing many of the Wee Sing songs at recess. Their moms tell me they sing them at home, also.The arrangements are quite catchy.

This Cd is GREAT for kids...as is the whole Wee Sing Series. I originally owned this on tape a child and would listen to it for hours on end. Before I even got to Kindergarten I knew everything from the pledge of allegiance to the preamble to the constitution. I managed to surprised many teachers over the years with things I memorized off this cd. Although it isn't necessarily an instructional cd it will teach your children (and probably you!) many historical songs and quotations. Many are patriotic but others are just classic "folk" songs. This cd is money well spent and I highly recomend it.

I teach 5th grade and use Wee Sing to teach the students the songs of America. Each month we focus on a couple of the songs. The students love it and it is easy for me. Now that I have the CD makes it so much easier. I have used this now for 15 years.
