Pretty Good,

This CD was great, but it was not the Broadway Kids best album. For example, they recorded some dorky songs and the kids' voices sounded a little goofy in some songs. However, when you hear HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS (vocalist: Amy Braverman) or CHRISTMAS IS A HOMEMADE HOLIDAY (vocalist: Eden Riegel) you won't regret buying this CD.

Each year we purchase a new Christmas album. We bought The Broadway Kids Sing Christmas last year. We loved it so much that we wore the tape out! The kids that sing on this album are very talented and are very much a joy to listen to. They are full of energy and make you feel as though you are there with them. I highly recommend this recording to everyone.

I'm a huge fan of Broadway Kids. Own all their CDs (except for those I reluctantly gave away to little kids in my family). Wish I'd listened to each selection first. I miss the true, unvarnished sweetness of childrens' voices--it's not on this CD. Too much hamming it up with favorite traditional songs... a No-No! Maybe 4 year olds love it but past recordings could be enjoyed by all. I couldn't wait to hear (from Home Alone), Somewhere In My Memory, by Erin and Michael. In her profile pix, Erin looks like an adult (certainly a teen...) Why is she imitating (I guess?) a 4-year-old when she sings this lovely song? So grating... I'll bet she has a lovely voice had she been able to use it. I know the kids were just taking direction, but what a shame. The Twelve Days of Christmas? I can't even listen to it... the really bad French accents? Whose bad idea was THAT? Sorry to pan the Broadway kids, whom I've loved a long time. If I'd used the "Listen" option on Amazon, I'd passed this one up.

The very telented B'Way Bids sing with energy and enthusiasm that kids can relate to. Our three boys, now 8, 5 and 2, listen to it over and over. My 8-year-old once brought the CD into school for music share day, my 5-year-old loves the comical rendition of "12 days of Christmas" and my 2-year-old calls out requests by number (ie: "number nine" for Jingle Bells). Best non-traditional song is "Earth and Sky" with its catchy melody, soothing flute and thoughtful message. The only questionable song is the one sung by Kathy Lee Gifford. She's no Broadway Kid!

As I said, I'm a fan of the Broadway Kids, and I've loved their past albums. However, for the most part on this one, they missed the mark. As a matter of fact, it wasn't even close. The Good: There are three songs that are fantastic! Just three. The songs are: Sleigh Ride, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Have yourself a merry little Christmas. I loved Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Those three songs are perfect and sang that way that they should. They are honestly beautiful. That being said, the rest of the album hit's rock bottom pretty fast. The Bad and Ugly: In most of the rest, the kids take it upon themselves to alter their voices in a goofy high, awful French accents, to just strange voices. A perfect example is The 12 Days of Christmas. I can honestly say that The 12 Days is unlistenable, it's that bad. In other songs, they use a horrible voice on purpose. To add insult to injury, they have Kathy Lee Gifford on one of the tracks. UG! I felt that was shameless self promotion on Gifford's part. She just used the kids to make herself look good. That part really grated on my nerves. The kids also have a "Christmas Rap". Again, it didn't work and is unlistenable. As I said, the first three songs are out of the ballpark excellent, then the rest is very unforgettable.

A Kid's Review

I like the songs but the reason I purchased it was to find a music bed but now I understand it is not possible to find it in this format. I thought it was one thing but it was not.If you are just buying to listen I am sure you will enjoy what you hear.

Nauseous and self-indulgent,

Where do I start? I gave it 1 star because there wasn't a negative star rating. These are without a doubt the most self-indulgent and just downright sickening song arrangements you could possibly imagine. Don't buy this if you like any of these songs because they don't sound anything like the originals. In a sloppy and irritatingly overdone way, the Broadway Kids try to modernize these oldtime Christmas favorites and end up butchering them beyond recognition. Without a doubt the worst Christmas CD I have ever heard.
