5.0 out of 5 stars The sequence of instruction is ideal., January 2, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sing, Clap and Play the Recorder: Book 1 (Paperback)
The first notes are the easiest ones, in which the child has to cover the fewest holes. The first lesson is on B. The letter name is reinforced through song lyrics using words starting with B. ("Bill was a bandit, big, bad and bold.")
Next is A, likewise played in monotone with alliterative song lyrics.
Next, the two notes are combined.
Next is G in monotone.
Next are BAG songs.
After spending a long time on BAG songs, low E is instroduced, then low D, and finally the pying's.

I once taught a children's recorder class in which I printed my own material. As time went on, I realized I should have followed a sequence like this one.
