Have a child.... Get this set! (Cassette and book),
By A Customer
This review is from: Wee Sing Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies (Audio Cassette)
Wonderful collection of nursery Rhymes and lullabies. Includes the old favorites as well as a few I had not even heard of. The voices used are very soothing. I enjoy it. My eight year old enjoys it. And my 9 month old enjoys it. When nothing else seems to be able to calm my infant down for sleep, this works wonders. Great for family time before bed. Times that I am sure my children will remember when they grow up and want to continue with their children.

Off we go to London Town!,

This review is from: Wee Sing Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies (Audio CD)
My Mom and I used to quote that every time we would go on a trip. This is easily one of the best Wee Sing tapes, now available on CD. My cousin recently had her 2nd baby and I bought it for him. And since my Mom had the NERVE to sell our original copy of this one in a garage sale, I just HAD to download it to my iPod before wrapping it.
The nursery rhyme part of it, is also set to a story of Georgie Peorgie, Jack and Jill, and Mary going to King Cole's Birthday party, and on the way meeting other Mother Goose Characters. Here are some interesting facts and trivia on some of the nursery rhymes and lullabies. THERE WAS A LITTLE GIRL. Originallly titled "JEMIMA," was written SURPRISE! SURPRISE! by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow about his daughter about a time that she misbehaved. Everyone knows the first verse. But there are two other verses that are almost never anthologized. One day she went upstairs while her parents unawares. Sitting below were at their meals. She stood upon her head on her little trundle bed, and then began hurraying with her heals. Her Mama heard the noise and thought it was the boys A playing at a combat in the attic. But when she climbed the stair and saw Jemima there She took and she did Spank her most emphatic! LUCY LOCKET If you own this product, you'll remember that the poem is sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle. What you may not know is that Lucy Lockett is the main tune and that the yankees got the melody for Yankee Doodle from Lucy Lockett. GOOD NIGHT TO YOU ALL Isn't really a lullaby, but it was a round dating back to the 19th century often sung by quartets in hotels and such as a finale. EARLY TO BED Was written, believe it or not by Benjamin Franklin. And was used as a way to get children to go to bed on time. SWEETLY SLEEP Is a parody of a Czech Christmas carol called "ROCKING," which you will find on "Wee Sing for Christmas." Either song gets me in a Christmas mood no matter what time of the year it is. All in all, this is a first rate recording and perfect for the young and the young at heart. So if you or anyone you know is about to have a baby, go ahead and buy it. You certainly won't go wrong.

My daughters, 6,3 and 7 months all love listening to this CD in the car and at home. The book with the lyrics is great for Moms who don't know all the words.
I'm buying another one for my oldest's classroom!

nice, but not everything I expected,

I didn't realize that the nursery rhymes came in a story with a narrator talking much of the time. I'm not a huge fan of listening to the story parts. I wish it had the option to just listen to the nursery rhymes. The lullabies are on the second half of the cd. I put it in iTunes and made a playlist of just the lullabies so I can put it on repeat and not hear the narrator.

Time for Another Generation of Wee-Singers,

This review is from: Wee Sing Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies (Audio CD)
My three grown daughters remember all these songs from having the cassettes when they were little. Sometimes when we're all together, someone will break into spontaneous song from one of the tapes and we all join in. It brings back great memories from our many car trips. I still have the cassettes, but no cassette player, so it was time to upgrade for my 18 month old grandson. His mom has been singing these songs to him from Day 1. All these Wee Sing CDs will become a family treasure! You won't go wrong on any of them.

This CD is great! I love that it has the words as well as the chords...........if you choose to play along. My daughter is 5 1/2 months old and loves to listen to this CD. They've also incorporated kids into it so it's just adorable. This is something I can listen to for a while and I know my daughter will enjoy it for years to come. I highly recommend this for price & value.

One thing I'd like to add to the other comments is that you might want to search inside the book to see the list of rhymes and lullabies as well as a sample of the notes for two of the songs which you can play on the piano if you like.

Childhood Favorite,
This review is from: Wee Sing Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies BOOK and CD (reissue) (Wee Sing) (Paperback)
I used to listen to "London Town" as a child with my younger brother and sister. The adventures of the fairy tale characters traveling to London Town for King Cole's birthday party was a family favorite, and we still talk about it every now and then. Now that my own child is on the way, I was contemplating ways to get a copy from the old cassette. To my extreme delight, I found that they are still producing this album, updated on CD! This collection of nursery rhymes and lullabies, accompanied by a fun-filled story bringing the nursery rhymes to life, it a childhood classic that shouldn't be missed. Even the adults will enjoy it! Great for car rides and bedtime.

My daughter was very happy with her 'surprised' gift she received in the mail for her baby girl which is due to arrive in October. Thank you again for the great service.

What a fantastic CD full of fun nursery rhymes and lullabies. My 29 year old sister-in-law listened to this as a little one. Her tape was handed down to my son by his grandparents when he was 1 year old and it's been popular in our house ever since.
It's a wonderful way for children and parents alike to learn the classic nursery rhymes. The songs are set up as part of a fun little story about Jack and Jill heading to London Town for Old King Cole's birthday party. I highly recommend this CD and the other Wee Sing cds as well. |
