Amazingly realistic!,
By buzzman (wisconsin) - See all my reviews

I am a singer and therefore wanted to preform some of the songs of wicked, i made one terrible mistake of buying the stage stars versoin first because i liked the cover better, but there is no comparison, these are MUCH better, The orchestrations are almost exactly like the ones on the cast recording and sound very realistic (althought they are synthesized). The only obviously synthesized instrument is the trumpet (both open and muted). It takes a lot of talent to keep up with the acconpaniment because 95% of the time there is no instrument playing the vocal line. The tracks include all of the instrumental interludes and underscoring that are on the cast recording, and are in the same tempo and key. I highly reccomend listening to samples of the tracks online so you can hear for yourseld how great it sounds.

Best Wicked Tracks Available by FAR,

The true measure of this disc is to compare it to both the original cast recording and to the other wicked background tracks disc available. These arrangements are virtually note-perfect to the original disc, but are indeed produced (at least partially) on synths. That having been said, they sound fantastic, and are worth every penny. If you're looking for a disc of Wicked background tracks, make no mistake-- buy this version, and you won't be disapointed.

great for groups, but not solos,
This review is from: Sing The Songs of Wicked (Accompaniment) (Audio CD)
as you know, in wicked there are hardly any solo numbers and the ones like "the wizard and i" or "defying gravity" which are mainly solos and could be modified as solos have that extra music on the cd. it is a great cd if you love musical theater and karaoke, it's just not good for auditions or performances if you are looking to do a modified solo. i reccommend getting it, the music is fantastic and it helps me learn the piano parts for the songs. almost all the songs from the show are on the karaoke cd.

Great !,

I absolutely can't understand the bad 1st review:
It's a AUDIO-CD (of course it has no lyrics) and the quality is overall impressive. OK, the orchestral soloparts (especially the Intro) can't compete with a full orchestra, but the songs are very close to the Original Cast Album. You can play both at the same time with almost perfect sync & tune. But you will have to buy the Cast-Album too, because it contains the right lyrics, the vocal selection is a completely different version! The only really negative point is the fact that 2 tracks are missing: "March of the witchhunters" and the Finale. It's not easy to sing without a conductor, but real fans gonna do it.

A good investment,

The backing tracks on this CD are quite well done. The instruments sound pretty good, though of course not as good as their acoustic counterparts. (Tip: If you feel that instruments on a track do not sound right, try playing it through a different type of speakers - this can make a real difference.)
The timings and orchestrations are easy to follow if you know the songs well. There is one part in Defying Gravity where it is challenging to jump in at first, but once you listen and count it a few times, you'll get it. I have used this CD for performances with my voice students and also personally and I would definitely recommend it!

This was such a great buy! I believe one of the other reviewers said it was a challenge and they weren't kidding. It takes talent to be able to sing with this CD because the music doesn't really follow the melody line, but for a singer/actress like me it was perfect! I used it to preform and it worked wonderfully! For anyone looking to challenge their self this is great.

My daughter used this cd for her elementary school talent show performance of "Popular." She was a big hit! The sound quality is excellent. FYI, lyrics are not included.

Ignore the artwork, it's GOOD!,

I am grateful for the two reviews I read before purchasing this. It is as close to the show as one can get. Except there are strange gaps in Dancing through Life (one of my favorites) that when I sang with my son, we couldn't figure out...but the orchestration is awesome. Wish it had a "karaoke" track so you could figure out where to "come in" on some parts but VERY VERY good. Enjoying it. We have the Wicked Soundtrack too so if you want to compare, you could use that if you were going to perform somewhere vocally.

Wicked Accompaniment CD with NO on-screen lyrics:,
By KaraokeStop "Your Karaoke SuperStore" (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sing The Songs of Wicked (Accompaniment) (Audio CD)
There are NO on-screen lyrics or lyric booklet for this item. This Wicked accompaniment CD is ideal for singers who are familiar with the songs of Wicked as these are only the background tracks for each song with no on-screen lyrics.
If you are looking for a Wicked Karaoke CDG, the only authorized karaoke CDG is by Stage Stars which features both Guide Vocal Tracks and Background Tracks for each song plus a lyric booklet too. The quality of the tracks on this Pocket Songs version are superior over the Stage Stars version.

This is not a Karaoke CD,

In my opinion, this is a plain accompaniment track CD, not a karaoke CD. It is not recorded in the CD+G format used with a karaoke CD - it does not have the words on screen. I was very disappointed. However, it is a high quality recording.
