MY FAVORITE MOVIE!,
By
This review is from: Sing [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I think that my VCR should be worn out by now with all the times I've watched this movie. Yeah, I know some people may not be into the 80's, or musicals, and they probably wouldn't like it, but the love story between Dominick and Hannah is so sweet and the soundtrack is excellent (I own the soundtrack too!) From the Brooklyn version of Romeo and Juliet to the fabulous "One More Time" song, this movie is a MUST have. My absolute favorite!

It's a total 80s movie, but I love it anyway!,

This movie was definitely made in the 80s. Besides the ridiculous fashion statements (although I can't really complain about Peter Dobson in his skintight jeans -- the 80s weren't *all* bad), there are a LOT of confusing and/or random parts to this movie. A cinematic masterpiece it is not. For instance, no matter how many times I watch it, I can't for the life of me figure out how time progresses through the story. It's a complete mystery to me. What this movie is, though, is a touching romance story with some great dancing scenes. I love it just for that -- it's cute, sweet, and inspirational. If you're willing to overlook the discrepancies in the story, you'll really enjoy it for its underlying sweetness and great dance scenes. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who, like me, loves dance movies, movies about plays, or stories about romance.

so this movie could very well be the best 80's movie ever - its amazing!!! i've been watching it for years - great one liners - "Hannah, Hannah, wheres my costume" ; "I don't remember anything from high school, except this, and you" - not to mention that peter dobsons butt is perfect!! great music (pick up the soundtrack - its worth it) and dancing. great rendition of madonna's "like a virgin" - so funny. you've gotta watch it or your really missing out on one excellent flick.

I am a former sing leader from Sheepshead Bay High School in Brooklyn, NY. I ran sing for the 4 years I was there from 1988-1992. This movie is a great movie and doesnt do it justice. The hard work of hours and hours during school, after school, weekends. But in the end it was well worth it. I can watch this movie for years and years to come and just remember..I miss my highschool years and the best part of my highschool years was SING. When this movie was filmed they filmed some of it in my school in New Utrect High School. Before the movie was out, they invited us to a special screening where I met Peter Dobson and some of the writers and Lorraine Bracco. I have autographs and they autographed my soundtrack too. If your from Brookly and never seen this movie and used to be in Sing or still are...FIND THIS MOVIE AND WATCH IT.

ORIGINAL OLD SCHOOL MOVIES!,

I'm a sucka for a good SING movie... I own movies that move the spirit and soul... such as JESUS-SUPERSTAR/ Grease (BOTH)... FAME & series version... West Side Story/ Rooftops/ Salsa/ Sound Of Music/ Anything with a pulse and step... I was hooked.
Coming from a kid from the Arts... "SING" was expected, to be added to my favorite of collectables. From my Non-Art-Inspired Peers, I got ridiculed - badly, over this flick. But then again, they would never understand... "SING" -- as I DO!. OKAY -- it wasn't the actors'/actresses' BEST work, but it was REAL enough to be directed and performed as if from REAL LIFE HIGH-SCHOOLERS... They were acting like REAL STUDENTS/ TEACHERS & STAFF!!! My sister had trophies for "SING"... (I always wanted to prove to her, I CAN DO IT, TOO!) so it took me back -- When I came into her grade; but then, that program was DEAD and long gone! Oh well... I'm waiting for this to make DVD ARCHIVES!!! Can someone tell me HOW I CAN PUSH THIS???? OR DO I HAVE TO ENDORSE IT, FOR SOLO? I loved it... for what its worth! Some great MORAL-TYPE MOVIES,(even thoughs low budgeted) never get the recognition they DESERVE! WE SHOULD EMBRACE our VOICE.. OUR SONG... we should endorse in SING -- LET IT COME TO DVD TOO! and BE rebirthed into our schools...but this time tickle the vocals chords of our early mockingbirds in GRADE SCHOOL... so we all get a chance to "SING"!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I have a couple of my own to contribute) *wink*

This movie is a poorly acted attempt at a musical. The only redeeming part is the ending with the different high school classes performing their end-of-the-year presentation. That, alone, is worth the money.

Midwest girl here that never heard of Sing before the movie. I loved it and had to replace my copy years ago. I would love to get a copy of the Soundtrack because I thought that was as great.

The Real SING,
This review is from: Sing [VHS] (VHS Tape)
SING has been a real thing in Brooklyn, New York for many, many years. When they were making this movie, they came to Midwood HS to film some footage of us working on our SING. This was in 1987. When the film came out they even screened it especially for SING leadership. The movie (while fun) doesn't do the real thing justice. The hours of hard work, friendship, and love that go into putting SING together are incredible.
