Immerse yourself in French while you're driving, doing chores, or relaxing at home...while listening to great music. Oh Là Là - Sing Your Way to French Part 1 is a CD full of irresistible catchy songs and full productions targeted at high school students to adults. It has also become a hit with elementary and middle school students and teachers and with parents and their children. It's PACKED with French vocabulary, expressions, aspects of grammar, and French culture, presented in conversational French. Though not a formal course, this CD is designed for reviewing or learning French in an entertaining way. PLUS there are 200 selected Web site links on-line (400 for Parts 1 and 2) to "see" all the French culture mentioned in the songs. This CD is also a perfect gift for anyone studying French or wanting to brush up on French before a trip to France. It was reviewed in the journal of the American Association of Teachers of French and is endorsed by the musical director of the former ABC TV program, "School House Rock."

PART I topics include: introductory rap with 19 irregular Je forms, Napoleon interview and interrogatives, Louis XIV and Versailles, Paris landmarks, a beach in Martinique, the negative blues, a baguette sandwich, avoir, être, regular verb conjugations, stress pronouns, possessive adjectives, on, savoir, connaître, aller, conjugating regular verbs, past tense, 24 faire expressions, commands, adjective agreement, and much more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Less than inspiring, October 9, 2005
By
Pelu (Princeton, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Oh Là Là, Sing Your Way to French Level 1 Part 1 (Audio CD)
I bought this CD because I thought it would be a good refresher on the French I learned in high school. I also thought that since I have been known to sing along with the radio or even to myself that I would be singing along to the songs on this CD. Unfortunately, I found the music less than inspiring, and I also doubt that one would learn much if you did not already know some French - the CD jacket has the words of the songs but nothing else. This CD definitely lacks joie de vivre. Good idea but poor execution. I feel I wasted $18.00.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, La La, Sing Your Way to French Level I, Part 1, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Oh Là Là, Sing Your Way to French Level 1 Part 1 (Audio CD)
The CD "Oh, La ,La" is a HIT with my 3-6th grade students. Even though the CD was written for middle and high school students, I have found it to be very successful with my elementary students. The vocabulary, verb conjugations, idioms and many grammatical structures are put to music. My students love the upbeat catchy tunes and as they are swinging and swaying to the music they are learning. The students are always asking to use our bag of props especially for the "avoir" and "moi je fais ma valise rose" songs. We have also incorporated some of the songs into our spring French fashion show. One only has to see the excitement and enthusiasm shown by my students to know that "Oh,La,La" works. The beat goes on!

I used to use this when teaching, but gave it to a colleague when I retired, but recently realized I would like to have it for my own pleasure & reviewing some basic french...it's catchy & memorable...i remember grammar from these songs... and enjoy the wittiness of many of them
