Fun! Fun! Fun!,

As a pre-k/kindergarten teacher, I have used this collection by Raffi for several years. As any educator knows, if a tape or cd doesn't work with the children the first couple of times it is used, the recordings go back in the cabinet and gather dust until it's pitched to make room for new ones. This one will gather only beaming smiles and singing voices! Brush your teeth, count pumpkins, shudder with plastic spiders, and go down by the bay with the watermelons! Start singing and learning with your little one! This is one of Raffi's best!

I don't know who sings louder with this recording, my grandchildren or myself. One of my favorites - along with Disney's "Silly Songs" series.

Pros: Cute songs, easy for you to memorize so you can sing them to your children. Favorites in our house: Down By the Bay, Mr. Sun, The More We Get Together, and Bumping Up and Down. I think this CD would be really great for teachers because there are also songs about Santa and Dreydels on it. Personally though, I don't care to sing about either in June!
Cons: A lot of these songs are just plain annoying---Spider on the Floor, Willoughby Wallaby, Robin in the Rain...for adults, these are total nightmares if they get stuck in your head! I don't know if that is avoidable with children's music though. I like They Might Be Giants better, and so do my two-year-olds. They always ask for "Here Come ABCs" and I've never had even one request for Raffi yet.

My son is now 5 and has had this since he was 3 1/2 and still loves listening to it before he goes to bed at night, in the car, or just a rainy day spent indoors. The songs make for fun moments to be silly together using varying tones in our voices or, his favorite, making up our own words! Our favorites are "Aikendrum" as we get very loud emphasizing the various foods; "Must Be Santa" as this one builds memory and thinking skills, along with "Willoughby Wallaby Woo" which can last as long as you make it! I highly recommend this to anyone buying for early listeners that need their own music to enjoy.
