5.0 out of 5 stars 27 Dramatic Houses, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Singapore Houses (Hardcover)
Our impression from the movies and the scenes from disaster areas tends to show us a view of the orient that concentrated on small, not very well constructed, fragile houses with essentially no architectural value. Such is not the whole story. There are individuals around the orient that are very wealthy and who have hired outstanding architects and builders to construct houses that are the equal of houses anywhere in the world. In this book some twenty seven houses are highlighted. Their design tends to be towards the modern, with striking details, even in the midst of the city. At the same time there is a distinctive feel of the houses that comes from the much warmer much wetter climate than our houses typically have.

All in all I see this an an idea book that brings a subtle difference in design, but one that could be applied to houses here with a bold different look.
