I was shocked and they told us that they had to send it back to Singer to fix, there was nothing they could do about it.

I have owned this machine for 18months now and still love it. All the features work, I love that I don't need to oil the machine. I do maintain the bobbin case, which I think is easy to take apart and put back. I owned a Sears Kenmore for 30 years that only did zigzag stitches and was a nice machine but very limited. The new machines have come a long way. I have sewn pocketbooks with many layers of fabric (purchased the upper feed foot which is a joy). I have sewn jersey weight fabrics too. I hope I don't jinx myself now, but for the money I think this machine is a great buy. I also hear some bad things about the Singer company, but I have to say that I was just about to write them a letter to complement them on their customer service. They already replaced my threader which I believe I destroyed myself; and my 1 year warranty was already expired. Any time I have a question, I can email their website and I will receive a reply. I am very happy with their customer service. You are also able to purchase attachments for your machine thru their website and you will not pay more than you would at another site. I will have to tell you that in all honesty, my Singer 7466 has brought joy back to sewing for me. I highly recommend this machine. I know you can pay a great deal more, but for the average home sewing enthusiast, I don't think you need to.

Until three years ago I had been sewing on a Sears Kenmore which I purchased in high school (over 30 years). I finally decided it was time to upgrade. I purchased the Singer 7466 but did not actually sew on it for almost a year (moving, disabled, etc.). My mother still sews on her original Singer and it sews like a gem. I have had numerous problems with this machine: will not sew with the cover on; foot controller sticks horribly; needle threader never worked; have not found the 13 needle positions it purports it has; one step buttonholer?-have not seen that happen yet; today, I cannot wind a bobbin-it stops and I get an 888 code--the troubleshooting tips in the manual are a laugh. I have emailed their website and never have received any help. I may have received the occasional "lemon" but this experience has helped make my decision on purchasing a new sewing machine--it won't be a Singer.

This machine is so easy to use. I like the all the different stitches that this machine offers. The easy threading, and the needle in the up position when I finish sewing. This machine would be great for all stages of sewing, new and old timers. I have been sewing for 25 years and this is my second machine. I think I will sell my old one.

My husband bought me this machine for my birthday I had not touched a sewing machine in 15 years, and that was in highschool! I have been teaching myself ever since, the ease of this machine has been perfect, beautiful results.

I bought this machine for my wife for Christmas two years ago. She's used it maybe a half dozen times, and a few weeks ago the bobbin winder stopped working. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, but it seemed that the arm that holds the bobbin winder shaft inside the machine had bent somehow. We took it to a local repair shop and were told it would cost a minimum of $150 to fix! I was shocked and they told us that they had to send it back to Singer to fix, there was nothing they could do about it. They then told us that Singer was no longer the quality brand that most people remember as Singer has been bought out by some other company. The shop repairman told us that modern Singers are so cheaply and poorly made that the usual internal twisting and flexing that a machine should be able to handle turns these machines into non-functional piles of scrap with light use, and that was exactly what had happened with my wife's machine.

DO NOT WASTE your money on Singer.
