Almost impossible to thread the needle.

Singer should be ashamed to be associated with such junk.

Should have known better, at this price you can't expect a solid piece of equipment. Almost impossible to thread the needle. The needle threader broke immediately. The chain stitch unravels almost as soon as you sew something. Wish I had done some research instead of making an impulse buy for the holidays.

I should have known better, but I assumed that since it was made by Singer it may actually work. I have been sewing for over 35 years and bought this for my daughter for her 4th birthday. She's been using my Singer serger for a few months and I thought this would be safer and she could do it herself. The thing won't even make a complete run of stitches. I'm taking it- and the knitting machine that came with it that doesn't work either- back to the store. I'll buy her a small real sewing machine and put a needle guard on it.

You know how some grandparents like to limit their role to flashing around wallet-sized pictures on the golf course and dropping off gifts a few times a year? If you are or have this type of grandparent, then this is the perfect gift for you! It's cheap, it's poorly designed, it's in pretty packaging, and it's a super exciting emotional gift for a young artistic girl. Once you've dropped off your cheap gift and received that satisfying burst of excitement from the child, you need to rush away feeling heroic. Quick, before she opens it and wants to actually use it. You see, there is no way to thread the needle. She won't be able to do it herself, and you'll feel like smashing the stupid thing to bits when you try to help her. They have even included a needle threading device which is as poorly designed as the machine itself. You cannot lift the plastic housing to get close to the eye of the needle. 5 minutes into this gift, my daughter is disappointed and trying not to cry, and I'm looking for the gift receipt and trying to figure out how to make her birthday better with the $20 in store credit she'll get from this hunk of junk. ENJOY!

Horrible product from Singer. Even for a toy this is below par. There is no bobbin so the stitches do not stay. No project included with the "machine" could be done without using another machine to do the actual stitching. The most difficult thing is to thread the darn needle. Requires 20/20 vision and a lot of patience.

My mom bought this for my daughter for Christmas 2 yrs ago. I don't know why everyone is saying you cant thread the needle. My daughter was 8 yrs old at the time and did it with ease. She sewed tons of items with it and never a problem. I wasn't happy it needs batteries but it was a cheapy so not an issue. It kept her busy and happy for hours! It did break about a month ago so she needs a new machine. But its a great little machine and for such a low price! It's also very light weight so easy to carry room to room if u need.

This machine is nearly impossible to thread and way too much of a pain to use. You would be better of not wasting any time or money. I wouldn't even keep it if it had been free.

I bought this for my daughter with the hope that she would learn to sew, and she was so happy and excited about it. To my great disappointment, it is very difficult to thread, and when you sew it immediately comes on done as soon as you take it out. They give instructions on how to "tie off" the thread, but it was impractical and difficult for me to do... my little girl would have never figured it out. What I had hoped would be a positive experience turned negative fast. It's more of a toy, but much too frustrating to be fun!

This thoughtful gift for my daughter's birthday was a disaster! The directions are unclear! The machine is hard to get working after it the initial threading comes undone. The needle breaks the second time we use it and the directions never tell what to do when that happens. I would rather buy my daughter a real sewing machine than to deal with these problems! And to top it all off - my daughter's heart is crushed that this cheap "made in china" sewing machine doesn't work.
