Apparently this unit is made in China. After 4 months of moderate use it needs to go to the repair shop over 50 miles away. Warranty says ship (at my expense) or deliver it and they'll fix it. Would be nice to have a closer option or at least a less expensive option after $400. Think a Singer product would stand behind the name a little better.

I bought my Singer Curvy 8780 approximately 4 years ago, being drawn in by all the attachments and stitches. Since that time, I have taken it to the shop for repairs 3 times. After calling Singer and explaining to them all the problems I have had and that there are no "qualified Singer repair" people anywhere within a hundred miles of me, they told me to find one or use another repair person! I have had it back from the shop about 5 or 6 months and after just a few sewing projects, it again quit sewing. After paying $600.00 for this machine, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in its performance. I thought buying a Singer meant buying quality, but not the case with this machine. I will go back to Brother if I buy another machine.

I got this sewing machine a few years ago on a daily deal site, and I have enjoyed using it very much! It has a variety of stitches and runs smoothly and quietly. It came with many different presser feet and good instructions. It's very easy to thread and get started quickly. The only problem I've had is that I had to adjust the auto-threader a bit after 3 years for it to work properly again. Very glad I made this purchase!
