Such a wonderful set of books. The reading was very well done, I could follow while driving. Loved the books - the poetry and the rhythm and the reality behind the allegory. Simply Beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable and indescribably beautiful, March 10, 2010

I love allegorical books that retell biblical accounts. Calvin Miller's breathtaking "The Singer Trilogy" are a collection of poetic works that set the New Testament in a fantastical world. "The Singer," the first part of the trilogy, is the best portion of the book because it recreates the life of Jesus.

The Singer journeys throughout Tarra teaching "The Song of Love" to all who will accept his help. He is hounded by "The World Hater," who will stop at nothing to thwart his plans.

"The Song" continues the story and is a parallel of the Book of Acts. Completing the trilogy is "The Finale," in which good and evil meet in a final explosive confrontation.

Calvin Miller is an exceptional author. This book is written in a free verse style, but you mustn't let the idea that the book is poetry hinder you from reading it. The story is simple and complex at once. I could write pages and pages about the depth of the symbolism and the beauty of the language, but I'll let Miller's writing speak for itself.

The audio version of this gem is superb! Adam Verner reads with sincerity and much feeling. His portrayals of "The Singer," and "The World Hater" are unforgettable. Happy listening, and God bless.
