An excellent Undergraduate Diction Book,
By
This review is from: A Singer's Manual of Foreign Language Dictions (Paperback)
This text is a most effective textbook for undergraduate diction classes. It is the only book that embraces not only the four primary singing languages (English, Italian, French and German) but contains sections on Spanish, Russian, Hebrew and Eclesiastic Latin. The information is presented in a logical, user friendly manner and is suitable as a long term reference as well.Gerald Gray Assistant Professor of Voice State University of New York at Fredonia

This book has saved my life on more than one occasion,

Dr. Sheil's approach to Diction was highly effective in the late 70's, and it most certainly is, now. As a former student of his, this book and I were very close friends during my Freshman year in the studio and in Diction class. As a voice teacher for twenty-two years, I have used this book constantly for my own reference, and for my students' preparation and homework. I have recommended it to a number of colleagues in the Public Schools, who have had great success with it, as well. It can be a bit unruly for the beginner, but, as the semester passes, and as one becomes more familiar with the book and uses it repeatedly, it will be a valuable tool. Suffice it to say, I am very happy to see it is still in print and still in use. David J. Rudari Director, College Choir Assistant Professor of Fine Arts -- Music Bethany College, WV

A lesson from Professor Sheil will revitalize your expression of all these languages.
