The STVG-718 includes a built-in camera and seven-inch black-and-white TV monitor, eliminating the need to carry around a bulky television set. Also included is a multi-format, top-loading CD player that is compatible with CDs and CD+Gs (CD+Graphics) and has 20 steps of random access programming, a built-in cassette deck for singing along with or recording to tapes, and an AM/FM radio tuner to let you sing along with your favorite radio stations.
The STVG-718's TV monitor features multiple display modes that allow you to show CD+G lyrics, the camera view, video from an auxiliary input or remain off while you sing. The STVG-718 also features auxiliary audio and video input for connection to a game console or DVD player, as well as output for connection to an external TV or stereo for increased sound and video capability. This unit has adjustments for bright and contrast for video, a balance control that lets you adjust between vocal and music on a multiplex disc, as well as pitch control that lets you adjust the tape cassette's playback speed.
The STVG-718 also features auto voice control, a headphone jack for private practice, two microphone inputs with microphone volume and echo controls, a two-digit LED CD+G track indicator, and a wood cabinet for superior sound.
The monitor on this system operates on the NTSC format providing 220 TVL (TV lines) of resolution. The CD player operates on a 100Hz to 20kHz frequency response, providing a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of 50dB and an immeasurable wow and flutter. This unit has a one-bit digital-to-analog audio converter and eight-times over sampling that provides for more accurate playback and a more natural, distortion-free CD sound. The audio output from the built-in speakers is four watts each RMS power, while the tuner's frequency range is 530-1710kHz for AM stations and 88-108MHz for FM stations. The STVG-718 runs on 110-volt to 120-volt AC power, measures 14.9 x 9.4 x 20.3 inches (WxDxH) and weighs 19.4 pounds.

We got this for my daughter for christmas. Actually we got her the STVG-700 which broke 10 minutes after we got it. Singing Machine replaced the broken one with an STVG-718. I give them high ratings for very quick and friendly customer service. Now that we have the replacement, we love this machine. What a blast! Nobody can resist singing along. We end up giggling and laughing - It's addictive. The picture quality is ok, I wish it were in color though. When you hook it up to a color TV it's much nicer. The picture quality from the camera is low, but my daughter LOVES seeing herself as she's singing. A cool thing to do is to hook the camera output up to the VCR and record herself singing. LOTS OF FUN.

Got this for my 7 yrold.........she loves it. Actually way too much for her aqqt this age, but she will grow into it in time. Only drawback to these is there just aint many CD's with appropiate music for kids her age. But who cares as long as she enjoys using it.

Overall it works well, but it will initially struggle with playing cds,
This review is from: Singing Machine STVG-718 CD+G Karaoke System with Monitor and Cassette (Electronics)
Overall I am happy with this karaoke machine. My only complaint is that the machine often takes a while to play a cd properly which i find very frustrating. When I initially put a cd in the machine and play a track, it will often give me a message that indicates that it cannot play any songs on the cd. After stoping the player and playing it again a couple times, it will eventually play the songs on the cd without any problems. So the karaoke machine does get the job done, however, the initial waiting period for listening to play a song is annoying to say the least. I have not yet tried to play the Karaoke type CDs yet, so I can not speak to the effectiveness that this machine has playing this audio format.
