My husband got this karaoke machine for me at Christmas. I'm very pleased with it. It has lots of features that many other karaoke machines don't. I love the Audio Voice Control. On any regular music CD, when you have the AVC turned up it will take a portion of the regular singers voice out so you will become the lead singer on any regular CD. Depending how on key you are, the lead singers voice will get lower, but you will still faintly hear it- almost like a background singer. You can use regular CDs, demonstration karaoke cds or the CDGs with this system. The system will come with one CDG cd with a few songs on it (none of which I had ever heard!). Another excellent feature are high, low & flat buttons that will change the key of the music or lyrics so you can find the most comfortable range for your voice. The speakers are a nice streamlined size and will fit almost anywhere & the sound quality is great. The whole system is very easy to move around too. This model will hook up to a color TV too, and the video of the singer or the lyrics will be color instead of black & white.

Has anyone hooked this up to a CD Recorder yet? Will it work with a CD Recorder? The book didn't specify. I am curious to try this with a CD recorder and record our karaoke jams! I like also that there are 2 microphones on this model. One is a wireless. This system also has 2 microphone jacks, so you can actually have 3 people singing at one time- great for trios! I use a professional grade microphone of my own with this system and it sounds phenomenal. This system is a bit more expensive than most, but it had all the fun features I wanted.

The only things I didn't like on this model? Well, I didn't like the angle & placement of the camera. You won't be able to move around as the camera doesn't have much of a range or a very wide angle either. You have to stand right over the machine to even get a decent video recording of your singing. It's not a good angle to film anyone in. Also, the Instruction manual wasn't very through as to what you could do with this machine (ie can you hook up to CD Recorder/tape recorder?). Also, you cannot make MP3 files of your performance on this model. Also, they don't give you any information on where to find more karaoke cds.

My system has worked well so far. It has a registration card in the packaging, and from what it says, you send it in and you will have a 90 warrenty from the date of purchase from the Singing Machine company. Tho, like I said, I haven't had to call the company on their guarantee so far.

Overall, this machine is lots of fun for the serious karaoke bunch!

UPDATE: Yes this will hook up to a CD Recorder and the recording sounded very professional too!

I bought this for my father, he is in his 60s and loves this machine! I put it together...very easy and the quality is better than most machines that I have seen. It is very easy to use and it is a lot of fun for the entire family!

I just opened this item last night for an early Christmas present and played on it all night long. It works GREAT and even hooked up to our plasma tv perfectly. My ipod works great in it (although I wish the lyrics I have downloaded in my ipod would show up on the screen - but that's no biggie). Fantastic sound from the built in speaker. I would definitely reccomend this item to any karaoke fan!

THIS PRODUCT ISN'T LIKE "WOW" GREAT ! IT'S JUST ALRIGHT. ITS NOT NEARLY AS POWERFUL AS THE KARAOKE MACHINE MY MOM BOUGHT FOR MY BIRTHDAY IN 1998 FROM THE RADIO SHACK. THIS PRODUCT HAS NO BASS AND YOU CAN'T TURN IT UP TOO LOUD AND SING AT THE SAME TIME OR YOUR VOICE BECOMES DISTORTED. IF I COULD RETURN IT, I WOULD.

When i recieved the STVG -999. It came with missing pieces and instructions. Not too happy.
Make sure you pick up some CDs of your own. This gift was "this is the best Christmas present ever" Until we opened it up. That was very very dissapointing. We had to wait for a week for Amazon to send another. This time it had everything in it. They where quick. I do have to give them credit. We are know very happy and i have a Karaoke addict on my hands. This machine is pretty good. The wireless mike is not great. The wired one is much better. The video is okay. It is black and white. We really don't bother with it. Over all we are content. Mind you i have no other to compare it to but we are happy with what we got.. Hope this helps.

I purchased this item because of the high ratings, but once I received it, I realized the monitor did not work. We have done everything we know to do to make it work, read the manuals, etc.. and it still will not work. I paid over $50 to have it shipped 2 day (it was shipped extremely FAST and I received it the very next day), so that is why I hate to have to pay shipping to send it back. The lyrics do show up on a tv, it's just disappointing for the monitor on the actual machine to not work. This also means the camera on the system doesn't work.
As far as the sound, the cordless microphone does not work and when you sing into the other microphone, the sound in one of the speakers cuts completely out. NOT what I expected for a total of over $277.00.

I would love to tell you how much fun we had with this machine....but we haven't been able to use it yet. I received this machine as a group gift from my girlfriends at a birthday party. When we set it up, the CD player door latch was broken. Without it being secured properly, the disc won't play. I did appreciate Amazon's handling of the return. They sent a new one right away and I used the packing from that one to send it back. I have now just completed setting up the new machine after buying some new CDs for our first Karaoke party. What are the odds it would be broken again, right? But alas, there is a problem with the wiring of the monitor. It crackles terribly when turned on. You can only listen to a CD on it...that's it! Amazon is now saying they will not replace it as there has been too many problems with this model machine. They will credit or refund the money only. So now I am left to figure out and pay for packing material to return this one for the "free" shipping. Very disappointing.

My family and I loved this karaoke machine so much that I had to order another one for my aunt. Great fun!!!

What a big hit this has been since Christmas! Friends that have come over and saw the machine, wants to buy one for their kids next year! Great value and great way to entertain in the game room!

if your thinking of getting this dont tried to find a battery for the cordless mike at radio shack and best buy with no luck called the seller and was given the brush off
