totally sweet,

This cd is great. I live in chicago and saw the honor system at one of my first real shows ever, but didn't hear anything recorded until much later. It's more chill than the broadways, but with a very thoughtfull sound. Get it, you won't get sick of it.

it just doesn't stand, much like the lawrence arms albums. if you took the best songs by both bands and combined them on one lp, it still wouldn't even equal a broadways album. the honor system is dan's band, and is a lot more layed back and polished sounding. i can't think of one aggressive part on this whole album however, and the lyrics aren't as motivating. it's essential to any broadways/slapstick/tricky dick/lawrence arms fans, but not for the uninitiated.

Stirring and sincere lyrics. An amazing execution of musical connection between all the instruments (particularly the guitars) and simply a consitant work of art. Personally i dont think there are any downpoints in the entire cd. the only thing that gets to me is that everything sounds like it was recorded in the same day in the same studio with the same sound effects, so though the songs rarely repeat any parts of themselves (which i love about the broadways, etc.) the sound of each song is evident in the next song. Punk? in attitude, and that's all punk really is anyways, (and dont listen to that guy - they dont sound like foo fighters at all) to me they simply sound like the broadways on a less agressive, more mature level. THough i dont like it as much as the broadways - (for their sheer brillance in captivating an audience) this is an excellent purchase. peace.

well, here's just another amazing band brought together after the Slapstick split (The other big ones for me are Lawrence Arms, Tuesday, and even tho Alkaline trio was together before Dan joined...i'll include them too). These guys are FANTASTIC! Vocals sound great, and the lyrics are genius! But the guitar work is what really gets me...It sounds as if it couldn't be reproduced a second time...like it was somehow a brilliant mistake! But then you see them live, and realize that's how it was written! And by the way, seeing them live is an experience all it's own! If you like good independent music...you best be getting this cd!

a step beyond the broadways?,

i figured that the honor system had their work cut out for them after the lawrence arm's "a guided tour..." and the notably matured "ghost stories" and the honor system offering is quite good. however, i don't think there was too much of a stylistic jump made from the broadways transistion--which bothers me because who wants to listen to the broadways without Brendan Kelly. also, this sounds nothing like the Foo Fighters!!

Alright, the honor system,i got 10 minutes to ogikubo station and i have to admit their music video for fools gold was very impressive. But unfortunately, nothing else on this album is like that. That song is great because it's fast,it doesn't repeat itself once, and it has one intense buildup.I was expecting more songs like that but surprisingly, there were none.I've noticed that the honor system get A LOT of praise for their guitar work and i can't figure out why.All of these songs to be dissonant and stagnante, but above all they're just bitter and nothing else. The lyrics on this album are a bit overwrought as well.Listen to the braodways instead their songs are much more inspiring.

Single File by The Honor System is basically a flawless combination of excellent lyrics with a fantastic sound. I really reccomend this to people who are just getting into punk, because this really isn't the traditional fast paced punk sound. It is sort of like a cross betweent the Foo Fighters and Punk, which makes for a really wacky combo. Buy this album!

I think this is a really good cd. But personally, I don't think it sounds anything like the foo fighters.
