The best guide for single women everywhere,
This review is from: The Single Girl's Manifesta: Living in a Stupendously Superior Single State of Mind (Paperback)
As a single, black female in my late 20s, I have continually focused on finding someone to have as my own. This book made me realize that person is me. I am SO incredibly happy being single the book made me realize I can have a fulfilling life into my 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond without being tied down to someone. The alternative to being single is not bliss (I've seen way to many messed up relationships to believe that's true). Being single is a blesing and not a curse.
I've read a lot of "you go girl" & "loving the solo life" kind of books, but this one offers practical advice and really struck a cord like others haven't.

It's about time!,

I thought it was fabulous. How liberating and wonderful to see a book that doesn't focus on how to "get through" being single but rather how to live a wondeful life while you're single, whether it's for a week or for a lifetime. The idea I loved most was the scrapbooking idea, putting together a vision of what your future would/could look like as a single women, putting to rest the fear of sitting all alone in a room full of cats and seeing one's self on adventures and trips and surrounded by family and friends and relationships and love. In the end, we go around once, right? What a waste to spend that time waiting, waiting, instead of creating, creating.

A must-have for singles everywhere,
This review is from: The Single Girl's Manifesta: Living in a Stupendously Superior Single State of Mind (Paperback)
The Single Girl's Manifesta is a fun, intimate, relatable guide to living a successful and fulfilling single life. Stewart not only shares her own personal life experiences with `singlehood,' but also includes a variety of perspectives and accounts of singles from all walks of life-ages, cultures, geographical locations. The book not only inspires women (and men) everywhere to embrace the single life with honor, but to also enjoy it. It's about being alone and loving who you are with and understanding that singlehood, just as marriage, is a choice. It challenges readers to weigh all their options rather than simply jumping on the matrimony bandwagon. Stewart did an excellent job of revealing the power and strength that comes with being single and encourages singles everywhere to live `stupendously.'

Great ego booster for the single gal!,

The book caught my eye with it's pink cover, so I picked it up at a bookstore and couldn't put it down!
The first stat that caught my eye made me feel really good: millions of Americans are single and loving it! Stewart tells her story of living "la dolce vita solo" and includes anecdotes of people from many backgrounds and ages who are experiencing the sweet single life too. Although there are many great points, there are several that I just adore: singles spend time with charities, work, explore different interests and people, and are not waiting for the ring, the house, or the trip around the world from a spouse - they're buying them on their own! She also adds all kinds of interesting ideas throughout the book for activities to do as a single person. The Manifesta reflected my reasons why I choose to be a single, gave me new reasons, and was a fun read too. As Stewart says, being single is what you choose to be, not doomed to be!

Unmarried? You will enjoy this book. Single? You might want to look elsewhere.,
By NomdeKeyboard "book fiend" (way out west) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Single Girl's Manifesta: Living in a Stupendously Superior Single State of Mind (Paperback)
This is a great book for unmarried women looking for ideas on how to move through their world with a significant other and/or dating. However, this book is not for the single women. Single is different than unmarried. Single is without a significant other and/or not dating. Unmarried is not married but still dating and/or having a significant other. It may seem like nitpicking but the detail is important because the book is not written for the single woman. If you are looking for a book for women not in the dating game, "Quirkyalone" would be a better pick. It includes activities for people not dating and/or without a significant other. Otherwise, if you are unmarried, there are several good ideas about activities to do, people to cavort with, etc. in this book. Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics

I read the book after meeting Jerusha in San Francisco at one of her book signings. This woman is fabulous! She totally captures a room, as her book captures your imagination.
About 80 people attended the book signing, 76 of which were women. I was one of only 4 men. That made me think the book was strictly for women . . . and yet it's not. Reading the book, I found it highly enjoyable I will probably never figure out women, but Jerusha's book gave me some insight into how they think . . . and did so in a highly enjoyable way. You should definitely buy the book and if you get a chance, attend one of her book signings. It will be one of the best book signings you have ever been to.

Not enough Substance-JUST OKAY,
By Lucy 225 (Perrysburg, OHIO) - See all my reviews

I was very excited to recieve this book, and began reading it right away. About a chapter in I wasn't so excited to continue this and found it harder to pick it up. The author does give helpful advice that is fun to keep in mind when you are single and ideas for what to do with yourself. The part I personally did not care for is that half the book are stories from other singles, I found myself skimming through every story just to get to the main point paragraphs after each one. If you don't mind reading those than you will enjoy this book. But for me I want to get to the point, I want facts, and substance. I don't want to read about what Janet age 30 is doing with her single life!!

Single-licious!,

My personal mantra is to live lusciously, live "la dolce vita", so when I saw Jerusha's version "la dolce vita solo", I knew I had to read the book. It is a delicious read! The Singular Sensations, Steal this Life columns, and Pleasure Passes are ab-soul-utely fabulous. After reading "The Single Girl's Manifesta" you'll live the most bodacious life you ever dreamed. Hey even married women should read it and add spice to their lives! I ran into Jerusha at SF Ladies Who Launch Live and she is as sparkling as her book! Toodles, gotta run because tonight I'm bathing in champagne! (Pleasure Pass #2)

So helpful during tough times!,
This review is from: The Single Girl's Manifesta: Living in a Stupendously Superior Single State of Mind (Paperback)
This is a great book for all ladies who have been through tough times and have lost hope for love in the future. It teaches you in a realistic and amusing way that it's okay to be single and it's okay to be with someone. It's helped myself and a few friends get through tough times. It's one I always recommend to a girlfriend in need of some hope for the future.

I have read a few books on valuing the single life and this is one of the best. I highly recommend it for any individual looking for the encouragment and motivation to enjoy all the time they have on this planet, single or otherwise. The author does discuss her sex life quite a bit, which was not so desirable for a person that engages in that sort of activity only in committed relationships, but the rest of the book makes it worth the read.
