Do You Take This Man?,
By
This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
Single Husbands by Honey B is one of her latest and greatest works of urban fiction. Ms. Honey takes us on a wild ride through the lives of three wealthy men and the women who love, cherish and chose to wed them. We are introduced to some down-low activity on both parts, the men as well as the women. We frequent sex clubs and participate in quenching our lusty thirsts with outrageous sex scenes. There are a multitude of children inside and outside of the marriages who are missing quality time but are financially well taken care of. Infidelity is at its highest and it gets better--they are all friends. To what extend would you go to find true love and happiness?
Herschel is a kept man, but even though he is a white collar worker and has a pretty decent bank account nothing compares to his wife, Nikki. Nikki owns a sex catering business and has a list of wealthy clients who love what she has to offer. Herschel would love nothing but to be the man in his household, but with Nikki's overbearing personality and wealth, Herschel is willing to take a backseat and let her shine. How long can Herschel contend with the once a month sex sessions his wife is doling out when he can get plenty elsewhere? Brian and Michelle are a corporate power couple, working hard and playing just as hard; it appears that they have the perfect marriage. On the inside they are spiritually connected and no man shall put them under, with the exception of Michelle's mom. How far is a mother willing to go to show their child that the man they married is not who they think he is? Lexington and Donna are stuck in a marital rut. Lexington wants his cake and eat it too, while poor Donna stays at home and tends to his children. Having been married over 10 years, is the party over? Can Donna convince Lexington that she is still in love with him and only him, or will Lexington's wandering eye lead him astray? Single Husbands is comical, interesting, and gives a fresh outlook on marriage. While all husbands are not unfaithful, there are many who want to still act like they are single, while doling out chores, allowances and such to the wife. This was a fast-paced, drama-filled read that will have you staying awake all night just to find out what the wives will do. Kudos to Honey B. I recommend Single Husbands to readers of all genres and Honey B fans. Reviewed by: Cheryl Hayes APOOO BookClub

UNREALISTIC PORN!,
This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
This book was not good at all. I did, however get a few laughs from Donna's character. I know this book was a book of fiction, but this story was ridiculous. The characters and situations presented were toooo unreal. The cover should contain a "hard-core porn" label on the front of it so normal people like myself will not be misguided and pick it up by mistake. Porn is ok if that's what you're into, but at least give people a chance to decide whether they want to read it or not by warning them upfront. I just couldn't get over those women squirting juices all over their partner's faces and chests as they reached their pinnacle of excitement. Give me a break!

You Will Not Want To Put It Down!,
This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
Lexington and Donna have been married for over 10 years, but their marriage is a little strained. Donna is not what you would call the partying type. She likes to stay at home, take care of the children and tend to her husband's needs. On the flip side, Lexington loves to party, enjoys going out to the club, and likes meeting "other people." Can Donna convince her husband that she's still in love with him and wants their marriage to work, or will Lexington's wondering eyes end up getting him in trouble?
Brian and Michelle have the ideal marriage. They love each other, and both are truly connected to one another. There's only one problem: Michelle's mother. Have you ever known someone that just won't stop until they find the slightest flaw? Wait until you read about unrelenting antics of Michelle's mom! Single Husbands by HoneyB is funny, sexy, and gives you an interesting outlook on marriage. Each character in the book has a different story, but in some way, there all connected in one way or another. If you're interested in a book with an obsessive amount of sex, then this is the book for you. Don't get me wrong...these stories were very good, and you could learn a thing or two. The amount of erotica was just a little too much for my taste. The good thing is that once you start reading Single Husbands, you will not want to put it down. Just be prepared for some very graphic details. ENJOY! Reviewed by Jackie for Urban Reviews

WOW???,
This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
Before I knew what the book was about, I planned to read it. Like many, I was caught with the title. Unfortunately, after reading "Single Husbands" I still don't know what it's about. It was a full helping of sex with a side of story - a very small side. Don't get me wrong, I love me some erotica and I've enjoyed her previous novels, but this was just too much. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I feel that this premise, still overflowing with sex, could have worked with more of an actual story.

While I understand that Mary B. Morrison has a knack for pushing the envelope and keeping it hot, I'd hoped that she'd also include a story with some balance, a good plot and substance. I don't know if the story was lost in the writing, editing or if it was deliberate, but I like my sex with at least a nice slice of story. I think that this may be the last read for me and Mary. I'm sure many will enjoy her erotic tales, but I need a story to follow with my helping.

I was anxious to get the book and purchased it on the day that it was released. Unfortunately, the book was just ok. I was expecting it to be much better than it was. If you looking for a book that has a bunch of sex in it, then this is the book for you. The characters didn't really have any substance. The good thing is that I learned a few tricks from the sex scenes included in the book. I returned the book after reading it and would have preferred to have gotten it from the library.

a fan,
This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
I really did not like this book. The sex scenes were off the chain but none of the characters had any redeeming qualities. I didn't care what happened to any of them and I need to feel something for at least one character to really enjoy a book. Mary B(Honey B) is still my girl I always enjoy her mandate that the pussy is to be worshipped but nothing here was for me. Also I don't understand how you eat raw pussy and suck raw dick but still feel that a condom is necessary for intercourse??? Haven't you already been exposed to diseases???

PORN in PAPERBACK!!!,

This review is from: Single Husbands (Kindle Edition)
Dont bother. I am no prude by far. I have bought, read, and enjoyed every Zane book on the shelves. But HoneyB is no Zane. I literally skipped 40% of this waste of time in pursuit of a meaningful plot or substance without some raunchy sex scene. There is nothing wrong with an occasional sex scene when there is some substance and a storyline to it. This whole sham of a novel left nothing to the imagination. The attempt to enlighten readers with tidbits of intellectual facts such as the history of New Orleans and the basis for most black men behavior being blamed on generational curses; was too little too late. If you are lonely and need to hear about others meaningless sex lives, then this book is for you. If you enjoy reading an intiguiging storyline, keep searching.

Single Husbands? Or Single Wives?,
By
This review is from: Single Husbands (Paperback)
This sexy tale of three single husbands is tantalizing, unpredictable, and repulsive all in one. The stand out couple is without a doubt Herschel and Nikki Henderson. Both are the headlining stars of this novel and the majority of the other characters are just their pawns. Nikki is a celebrity erotic sex recipe chef banking über-millions flying around the country taping television segments and showcasing her culinary skills for wealthy clients. Herschel is basically a kept man, living and taking care of his secret side family off of Nikki's bank account interest. Never once does this novel depict him going to work although he apparently has a white collar job and brings homes bread crumbs compared to his wife. That alone makes Herschel feel inferior and like he doesn't wear the pants in the marriage. He isn't far from the truth but then again he married Nikki for the wrong reasons to begin with, and is cheating on her with both sexes so maybe he deserves the way he feels.
Sexy dread locked gapped tooth Lexington Lewis has been married for 10 years to Donna. Sacrificing everything, she sold her thriving restaurant in New Orleans to relocate to Miami and marry him. She then popped out two children to add to the three illegitimate ones he already has just to be indemnified with neglect and constant almost blatant infidelity. Donna stopped having sex with her husband 3 years ago and seems to have let herself go, stays in the house, and always wears frumpy clothes with horrible bunny house slippers while begging Lexington to stay home with her. He doesn't, instead he opts to go to his favorite swingers club until the wee hours of the morning satisfying his unquenchable sexual thirst. He is also sexing his first and unattainable love every chance he gets. . . Nikki. From the outside looking in Brian and Michelle have the supreme marriage. They seem sincerely in love and deeply connected. The only poised threat seems to be Michelle's mother. She is willing to do anything in her power to prove he isn't good enough for her daughter but is ignorant of their unequivocal vow of "to death do us part". I must say that I am most disgusted by Brain Flaw than any other character in this novel. Not only because of the obvious but because his outlook that the lighter the skin the better the person. Brain comes from a legacy of light skinned successful men that embed in their families head that dark skin is not necessarily bad, but not good enough, so Brain won't touch a woman with a tan. Just a tad offensive, especially since he doesn't seem to learn a thing this entire novel. The plot is weak yet the erotica is the exact opposite, a little balance and this book would have been a lot better. I enjoyed the sex scenes but would have definitely loved for the characters to have been more developed. We met them all and rapidly have to figure out who was who, who was married to whom, and who was sexing who behind who's back. We learned a bit about certain characters and then almost nothing about others. Maybe there are too many characters and too many side and combined story lines? Or maybe the book was just too short to have wrapped it all up effectively. (Series?) Anyway, this novel closed quickly with many unanswered questions and I would have highly appreciated it if we could have seen all of these characters evolve, mature, and find some direction while even attempting to redeem themselves. Everyone except Brian and Michelle honestly appeared to be confused out side of the bedroom, and often changed their minds on heavy life changing decisions. The foundation of this publication seems to be, the most popular marriage vows do not necessarily include being monogamous. "Forsake all others", can be subjective. Obviously, that doesn't make it okay to cheat but that sure did serve as a valid excuse in some of these character's minds. A part two is unquestionably in order. We need to find out what happens to insatiable Nikki. The reasons Donna stuck by her single husband for 10 years and why she seemed so brainless for almost the entire novel. And I'm quite sure there is a whole new book worth of stuff on Michelle and I can't wait to find out what. The biggest question of all is were these women also single wives?

Me No Likey...,

This review is from: Single Husbands (Hardcover)
I think Mary Morrison is a very talented and wonderful writer. The book title is excellent but honestly the book bored me to tears. I stopped at page 77.
Too much sex and it just seemed...boring. One husband is on the down low and has a mistress and is married to a woman worth millions but he is basically a kept husband, Another husband only likes light-skinned females And the third husband leaves his wife and goes out every Saturday not to mention cheating on her with one of the other wives. ' It may sound good from the way I am talking but I truly did not care for it. |
