5.0 out of 5 stars Great, economical set of knitting needles!
These knitting needles are much nicer for me than plastic or metal needles, and they're much quieter. They're longer than other needles I have, which makes it easier to knit larger pieces and to keep stitches on when I set the work down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really wanted to like these, but...
This set was recommended to me as a good value. I agree that the price is excellent, but I'm getting increasingly (ha, no pun intended!) disappointed with the needles.

One of the size 7's arrived visibly warped. That's one of my most-used sizes! Luckily for me, I have another pair of that size, so I didn't make an issue out of it.

But...

These knitting needles are much nicer for me than plastic or metal needles, and they're much quieter. They're longer than other needles I have, which makes it easier to knit larger pieces and to keep stitches on when I set the work down.

The only thing missing is easy-to-read sizes. The sizes are etched in tiny numbers on the side of each needle, but I took a Sharpie and wrote the size numbers on the ends. There's plenty of room to write the sizes, so it wasn't too much of an issue.

Oriental Touch also has wonderful customer service. They were very helpful when I emailed them, and I highly recommend purchasing from them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, February 20, 2008

Comparable to Clover/Takumi bamboo needles (honestly can't feel a difference). They have a clean & smooth finish, small imprint labels and are packaged nicely. These are a great buy for the money. Fast delivery (a plus).

I had been looking and looking for just a few sizes that I needed to fill in my set, but couldn't find them all in one place (to save on shipping costs.) Then, I found this bamboo set on Amazon.com and the entire set was less expensive that the few pairs I was looking for. When they arrived (& quickly), I was a little worried before I opened the envelope because the outer packaging wasn't very substantial. However, all the needles were fine. I started using a couple pairs for some baby items I am knitting and thought they were great! Very smooth and fast! They are lightweight and feel very comfortable in the hand. I am now going to order the long needle set and the circular needles. Hopefully, I will have as good luck with them as I have with this set. I will retire all my old aluminum needles.

I agree with the reviewer who said that the sizes in tiny print on the sides of the needles are a little difficult to read. But, like her, I simply took a Sharpie and wrote the numbers on the tops and that works fine. All in all, based on my experience so far, I highly recommend this set of needles.

But another problem arose last night as I was knitting with the size 6...a little splinter came out of the tip of one, and it started to snag my yarn. I'm no expert, but I don't think that should happen! Again, luckily, I have another pair of 6's, so I could keep on going, but I'm starting to get a little annoyed at the low quality of these needles. They were only $25, but I could have spent that money toward a better set, had I known.

I think in this case, it seems like you get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Needles, Great Price, September 6, 2009

I love these needles. They are smooth but not slick like metal, and they have a lovely light and warm feel. I enjoy knitting with them; I feel like I have more control than I did with metal (I don't live in fear of dropping stitches anymore). I no longer have a death grip on my needles. I'm a relatively new knitter and I needed a starter set, so this was perfect. It's much less less expensive than some other brands and you get more sizes. I have no issues with quality, these are great needles. I have used several sizes so far for small projects.

Just a thought...if you are a tight knitter, you probably won't like bamboo needles very well just in general. You will have more trouble moving the yarn along the needle and working into your stitches than you would with metal. I don't knit loose but not tight either so they are great for me. I would have no problem buying this brand again, and in fact I will probably get the longer set at some point for making larger projects.

Anyone that has priced single sets of bamboo DPNs knows these can run $6.00+ /set. I purchased the SPNs as well.

They are a little rougher than the the higher-priced, store-bought needles but you can rub the needles with waxed paper to make them slick.

No reason to pay more for some simple knitting needles. Nothing to mess up here, unlike circular needles (where the join can be funky and it can be hard to get your work over it as you knit). They are pretty sturdy, so I can't see myself snapping them or anything. Just as good as the "name-brand" knitting needles I've bought.

If bamboo is your knitting needle material of choice ( natural, sustainable) then check these out. It's nice to just drop $25 and have almost every size you'll ever need!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, January 26, 2008
This review is from: 9" Single Point Bamboo Knitting Needles Set
This is an excellent deal for the price. I haven't rated it 5 stars because I haven't knitted with a pair long enough to know if they eventually "polish" with continued use. I find these have a slight "drag" as you would expect with new bamboo needles that eventually goes away once they're used consistently. I expect the same with these needles. It's nice to get a wide variety of sizes at once rather than plan a project then come to find I didn't have the right size needle. I would recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, April 30, 2009
This review is from: 9" Single Point Bamboo Knitting Needles Set
I was unhappy with these needles. The quality wasn't as good as the double pointed needles I had ordered before. The sizes were not accurate. The size 2 and 3 were exactly the same. DIXIE
