This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
What I love most about this book is in Chapter 5 where you give powerful, pratical steps to overcome sexual temptations. In my struggle for many years as a single woman, I have searched but never have found such a profund book like this one that is direct, candid and uplifting as this one. For a taboo subject on sex, many never even scractch the surface, but you have really hit the head of the nail! I highly recommend this book, it's a must to anyone who have a struggle or addiction to sex. It will both inspire and educate you and give you the strength and the willpower to uphold the Word of God. It will leave you with the attitude of accomplishment and inner peace. It will truly bring joy to your life, knowing that the joys of sex can be wonderfully explored in the santity of marriage. Don't prolong your suffering, get this book TODAY!

Finally! The Truth, No Chaser,
By Mina Nyenke (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
My soul had been longing for revelation and understanding on this topic for some time. The day I came to Amazon.com, I wasn't even looking for this book, however the Holy Spirit led me to it and I am truly grateful. Ty Adams does not tiptoe around the tulips when it comes to dealing with the extremely important issue of being single and saved yet wondering why sexual activity is still running rampant in the church and elsewhere. I read this book in a matter of HOURS! I couldn't put it down and have already started reading it a second time. THIS BOOK IS NOT JUST FOR SINGLE WOMEN, ITS FOR SINGLE MEN TOO! I'm a single woman who has reclaimed celibacy (and will keep it that way until marriage) and I understand more clearly how powerful my thoughts are. I understand that the enemy comes to attack your mind and if your mind isn't renewed after you get saved, you will still think the same way you did about dating and having sex until you seek out practical answers and revelation in this area. Ty tells her story which made me realize that she and I both have felt and/or thought the same way about issues relating to sex such as feelings of loneliness, wanting to be held yet still live for Christ, using a strong sexual drive as an excuse to continue having sex, and the damaging effects of sexual abuse in your past. Ty also educates men and women about our flesh and how most of the bad choices we make are due to our unwillingness to use our common sense. Understanding that common sense is not common, this book is a MUST READ if you even think you may have sex (being unmarried) in the near future and consider yourself to be saved. You'll wish you didn't. Most importantly, Ty effectively uses biblical scripture to lay the foundation down in truth about what God says about who we are and what we are in Christ. This is not a book of her opinions, it is of revelation so if you are truly thirsty for deliverance in this area, make this book a part of your permanent book collection as I have.

Confronting Sin,
By prazdancr1 (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
I read this book last year...I was attracted (and put to shame) by the cover. It was real to me...not the fact that the man and woman are partially bare but I noticed the looks on their faces that said, 'we're guilty, we've done it again and how are we going to stop it'. Things that I thought over and over again when I was "caught up". This book made me confront my sin, confess it to God and it sent me on the road to giving it up. Ms. Adams talks candidly about forgiveness and mercy. Just because you're forgiven doesn't mean that you will not face the consequences of your actions. That's what became real to me, we do these things over and over always forgetting about the what the results will be (more emotional baggage, pregnancy, STDs)...that's what the book made me think about. It took a few months after reading the book to get it right but I've finally got the point. These kind of books help us to heal, they offer remedies...Ms. Adams' book is definitely a good remedy but God is the source for the cure. Way to Go Ms. Adams!

Some Good Advice, Some Not So Good,
By
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
I bought this book because the title caught my eye and I thought that it would have practical information for guarding against lust. However, the books tells you that you should abandon anything sinful. Though I agree with this point, I think that it negates the human element.
I guess that I was looking for more practical advice from the standpoint of a Christian couple. This book only offers advice for someone who is completely single, not dating someone. I agree with the author's view of casual dating. I think that the disposable attitude toward relationships is probably a factor in the divorce rate, even among those who go to church. It wasn't until about page 100 that I started getting into things that would be useful in my life. There are some good things in this book, most importantly, the forgiveness of God and His mercy. -be honest with where you're at -know your weakness If you aren't familiar with "The Message" by Eugene Peterson, some of the Bible verses will not make much sense. The verses are not labeled within the text, so you have to flip to the end of the chapter if you wish to look them up. I tried hard through out this book to gauge who the audience was. I wasn't sure. From the language used, I would guess that the author is gearing the book toward African Americans, but I wasn't sure of the age group. Some of the passages in the book are mature and others are juvenile. The editoral errors in this book were almost overbearing. I felt like someone should really check out the grammatical errors, and the editor should definitely be fired.

NO MORE EXCUSES....LETS GET IT RIGHT!!!!,
By
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
The book Single Saved and Having Sex is a Book that was not only breathtaking but a well needed eye opener. When I started reading the book I couldn't put it down, I read it in one day and sought delieverance thereafter.
When reading this book you are confronted with the lies and masks that we as christians have been taught to wear to cover up sexual sin. From Oral sex to masterbation to under cover and open lesbainism, Evangelist Ty, leaves no room for assumption, or guess work as to what is a sin and what's not...What's Holy, Acceptable and Righteous and what's not. Ty is very straight forward with her message, and leaves no sexual sin un-turned. This book allows you to examine yourself, and it coaches you on to the path of being real enough with God to be able to accept change and walk in your appointed delieverance. Ty emphasizes that God's Love and Grace is sufficient enough to carry you through your delieverance process. She expresses how you will never be able to get yourself right before coming to him because the struggle is much to difficult...He will help... yet before he can help, the question is, how can he help when you don't think that there is a problem? After reading this book you will not only realize that there is a problem, but you will be able to correct it and walk away from it with a lifted head of love rather than a lowered head in self defeat and shame. I also found that despite the Title SINGLE, Saved and Having Sex, This book is not just for the single, but for the married, engaged, and all in between. Alot of people think that once you are married that sexual sin is no longer an issue, but that is far from the truth. this book is also not just for women, but for the MEN too. The biggest problem in relationships is that books are written for women to know how to carry themselves and what to do and what not, leaving the men to get the knowledge where ever and whenever they can, but this book offers the advice and know how for both sexes. There is something for everybody in this book and the one thing that I took from it, is that Holiness is not what God is asking you to be but it is a command..."Be Ye Holy for I am Holy" and that command can not be fullfilled if you are bound up and struggling with sexual sin. When reading this book I was very unaware of over 80% of what Ty exposes, and the scriptual refrences will blow your mind. This book has been the cause of my sexual purity and the sexual purity of over 10 of my friends and counting.....This book is a must read, a must buy and a must buy for a friend. You never know whose struggling under the church mask...It maybe you...

Okay...I will have to disagree with several of you,
By E. Cardoso (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Hardcover)
I'm sorry to those of you who could not see the value of this book. I honestly do believe that this book was not written for you. At the point when I discovered this book I was in a serious struggle and Ty was able to touch me in a special way. Everybody recieves there blessings in different ways and I feel that this book can minister to a lot of single and saved young adults who do contiue to have sex or partake in sexual activities with no regards to the "commitment" they have made to God. The fact of the matter is that when you kiss or do any of the other things that she talks about people do in relationships, it can easily lead to sex. The book really tried to get people to think about those things before they do them and not in the heat of the moment or afterwards. I felt that she was trying to get people to understand that you can't ask yourself later how you ended up having sex if you continue to do those things which lead to sex...of course she is not in everyones situation and was mainly speaking from her experiences, but she stated that she was going to speak from her experiences in the beginning of the book. I think that if you are really struggling with this problem and are look for a book to motivate you to change your ways and seriously commit yourself to God...then this book does that and more. As far as the grammer issues...if you had time to notice that...then you really missed the point of the book. God obviously spoke to her heart to write this book knowing that it would touch someone...and the only way you will know if that person is you, is by reading the book.

Renewing your mind, releasing your spirit,
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Hardcover)
If you are in a constant struggle with issues surrounding relationships and sex, SINGLE, SAVED and HAVING SEX will offer some spiritual insight and hopefully supreme guidance on how to overcome.
Ty Adams wrote about her life, from a sexually molested childhood, through a sexually promiscuous adulthood, and thankfully to the brick wall that stopped her sinful ways and redirected her path. However, after finding Christ and being born again, Ms. Adams discovered that her physical desires had not been washed away. Realizing that there are so many others living in the same awareness of their carnal spirit, she was inspired to share her story and hopefully offer a prescription; tools for deliverance. SINGLE, SAVED and HAVING SEX is frank, passionate, and explosive. Ms. Adams questions, even challenges believers who love God in church, but still go home in torment, to be honest with themselves about how they are walking with God. This revised edition is done in four informative parts that cover the gamut of temporal, spiritual and natural feelings experienced in what she calls our sexual revolution. She red flags the realities of temptations, and gives answers to singles who still need to know and understand holiness, purity and the gift of sex created by God, and the context within which it is to be enjoyed. One of the quotes for this book states, 'this should close the gap left open by Christians who are fighting the good fight'. And another comforting quote, from Dr. Murdock, "struggle is proof that you have not yet been conquered." Pick up a copy of SINGLE, SAVED and HAVING SEX. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ™ Reviewers

Hopefully the Worst Book Written on the Topic,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Hardcover)
This book is a literary horror for a thinking person. It slides in as if to shed some bit of light on the topic of sexuality for the saved and single, then proceeds to give some of the weakest, most brain-dead arguments for all of its major points. It is filled with flawed logic and rhetorical tricks. It's a bad sermon--relying on emotion and guilt, rather than logic, faith, and the Word. This book should serve to do one thing for its readers: inspire them to write. If this book got published, be assured that whatever you have been thinking about writing can be published, too. Begin writing immediately! You cannot do any worse.

Updated version!,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
In this updated version, the author uses Bible verses to make and back up her points.
As a sexually abused child--and then promiscuous young adult, the author never thought she was good enough to go to God. After she was "born again," she thought her sexual desires and struggles would be washed away, as her sins would be. "Pray that you will not be overcome by temptation."--Luke 22.40 (NLT) Adams says "that sex outside of marriage is never free; it will cost you so much--and Satan will collect." When a man and woman make a marital vow before the Lord, they share a covenant, becoming one during the sexual union, sealed in the marriage by the Holy Spirit. "What we intimately do with our bodies affect the spiritual state of our soul," the author says. In today's societal mores, this book has some very strong statements that few singles seem to be abiding by. However, the good news is that articles are popping up about high school students pledging abstinence. Armchair Interviews says this book would be an excellent study guide for a teen or young adult group discussion. "Above all else, guard your heart, it affects everything you do." --Proverbs 4:23 (NCV).

TY must mean; Thank You,
By L.A. King "The Motivationalist" (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Single, Saved, and Having Sex (Paperback)
This is a book that will allow you to digest it in a myriad of ways. As a teacher and Motivationalist, I was impressed with the presentation of material and the evident amount of time and research this young lady put into the work. It is a challenge to be transparent when presenting such a topic in the arena of ministry. She has dared to talk about what others have tried to "wish" away. This book can't be just for "church folks"
This book can be taught in singles circles, among friends, discussed with co-workers the list is endless. I'd like to see a structured workbook and regional conferences birthed out of this work. This is a multi-dimension work. Great Job... I pray there is more from you! |
