Biography

English band The Wedding Present played an important and undervalued role in the development of British indie-rock. While other English bands of the time, such as The Smiths and The Fall, regularly get more credit, the Wedding Present sound closer to most indie-rock bands of today than either of those bands.

Essentially a vehicle for singer-songwriter David Gedge, the Wedding Present's line-up of… Read more in Amazon's The Wedding Present Store

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MIX, October 3, 2000
This review is from: Singles 1989-91 (Audio CD)
This is a great collection, with the bonus of lots of TWP live tracks thrown in. The Wedding Present are not to be missed live, just for your information! They are brilliant and loud live! This really is a singles collection, and as great as the singles are, I am more an advocate of buying their actual albums... I advise you to get Seamonsters for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best songs TWP ever did, July 7, 2000

About ten years ago, when I was a student, I'd listen to "Seamonsters" every evening. I also listened to the CD singles I had managed to find somewhere - it wasn't easy to find them in Germany. I remember I went to see a concert in Cologne and I wished TWP would release a live album. This double CD is a very pleasant reminder of those days. The CDs comprise singles and live tracks from their best period (imho). They never got any better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give me my wedding present, October 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Singles 1989-91 (Audio CD)
If, like me, you think the jaunty, jangly jam of the Velvet Underground's "What Goes On" is just about as good as rock and roll gets, well then you'll very much be digging this band.
