GREAT MIX,

This is a great collection, with the bonus of lots of TWP live tracks thrown in. The Wedding Present are not to be missed live, just for your information! They are brilliant and loud live! This really is a singles collection, and as great as the singles are, I am more an advocate of buying their actual albums... I advise you to get Seamonsters for sure!

The best songs TWP ever did,

About ten years ago, when I was a student, I'd listen to "Seamonsters" every evening. I also listened to the CD singles I had managed to find somewhere - it wasn't easy to find them in Germany. I remember I went to see a concert in Cologne and I wished TWP would release a live album. This double CD is a very pleasant reminder of those days. The CDs comprise singles and live tracks from their best period (imho). They never got any better.

Give me my wedding present,

If, like me, you think the jaunty, jangly jam of the Velvet Underground's "What Goes On" is just about as good as rock and roll gets, well then you'll very much be digging this band.

Indispensable just for one tune alone,
This review is from: Singles 1989-91 (Audio CD)
That tune being SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND. Originally done by The Velvet Underground. At the risk of getting wizzed on by Lou Reed, let it be known that I infinitely prefer The WP's version to The VU's version. David Gedge's whispery vocal is pure pleasure. (Gedge makes arch-whisperer Ira Kaplan look like a cheapjack amateur.)

a good intro for neophytes, and a must for long-time fans,

The wedding present's much neglected RCA singles are collected here, along with a few other rarities and live tracks.
