4.0 out of 5 stars A great reminder and repackage
I don't remember loving "Mini Plus" or the singles of "2,3, Go" and "Montreal" as much as I had earlier Wedding Present material, and I bought this CD without realizing that most of its material consisted of those 3 disks. But what a surprise it was to put this record on and have my memory refreshed. I have been playing it over and over...

3.0 out of 5 stars you probably already have this
The amazon person above got it right - not their best period, but hey - it's the Wedding Present so it's still pretty darn good. The problem is that if you bought Saturnalia and the MiniPlus EP when they came out, you already have most of the stuff on this CD except for some different versions and a few live songs. I admire WP's effort to keep their stuff available...

I have been playing it over and over. Certainly there are less than good tracks, but there are so many fine tracks-- including the lovely acoustic "Sports Car," "Up," "2,3,Go", and [perhaps my favorite] "Love Machine"-- and it's so nice to have them gathered in one place, instead of 3 different disks, that I don't complain about having bought the material twice. Besides, many American fans of TWP might not have had access to the singles and their bonus tracks. I bought this record from Amazon at the same time as the new British reissue of the first "T Rex" record [the one featuring "Is It Love?"], and "Singles 1995-97" has been on the player for more often than "T Rex", even though I've been wanting "T Rex" on CD for years. "Singles 1995-97" may not be as marvelous as "Bizarro", but it's probably better than "Watusi" or "Saturnalia" as a collection of great short songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Collection, December 12, 2000
This review is from: Singles 1995-1997 (Audio CD)
I find this album to be the best collections of work from the wedding present. the whole album expresses invaluable dynamics which is why i like them in the first place. Great soft quiets mixed with the raw louds Example: The album opens up with "sucker" which is one of my fav songs. galloping drums, david's raw voice, distinct electric guitars, and driving bass -just plain awesome. There's also a great acoustic version of "jet girl" and "sports car" and live versions of (oh yeah!) "my favourite dress" and "brassneck" - doesn't get any better than this folks.

I own quite a few albums by the Wedding Present, but this one may very well be my all time favorite. It's a collection of some of their best songs from the mid 90's, which I think was in many ways actually one of their best eras. It also contains live versions of two of their best early songs, Brassneck and My Favorite Dress. In many ways I think this is one of the best CDs to get if you haven't listened to the Wedding Present before. The music on this album is more varied than most of their other albums, and gives you a really nice introduction to their sound. And virtually every track on here is a classic, in my opinion. Get it, you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars late and great, October 3, 2000
This review is from: Singles 1995-1997 (Audio CD)
Yes, late, great Wedding Present in the end-days of a long and overlooked career. This does have some repeated material, but I for one didn't mind. And the Cheers theme song is just too funny not to own.
