Depeche Mode - 1983-84., April 3, 2004
This review is from: Singles Box 2 (Audio CD)
"Singles Box 2" has a handful of Depeche Mode's most vital hits. Capturing the period 1983-1984, this box set has signature moments like "Everything Counts," "People Are People," and the s&m bite of "Master and Servant" (it also has the singles "Get the Balance Right," "Blasphemous Rumours," and "Love in Itself). All the singles come with b-sides and/or extended remixes, with other noteworthy tracks such as the excellent non-album cut "(Set Me Free) Remotivate Me," the "Silk Mix" of another b-side "In Your Memory," and the 12-inch version of "Get the Balance Right." Also, I've said it before, and I'll repeat it here: this box set has no "new" material, so everything you see has been previously released. The booklet has only the tracklisting of the entire box set, with no lyrics or photos. But who cares? Any Depeche Mode fan worth his/her salt will pick this winner up, and even though they may already have these singles, this box set presents them in superior sound on CD. A keeper.

Music is good, however, February 21, 2009
This review is from: Singles Box 2 (Audio CD)
If you like early Depeche Mode the music is great each single is pretty much a collection of the various single tracks released in the UK and US. I actually bought this after already having the 1991 release of the UK edition singles box. I'd thought this might have been a remastered release. It isn't, this is the 1991 release music reissued in 2004 there is no discernible difference in Audio quality to the 1991 release which is a shame as you can hear in the Box sets 4-6 that they did remaster those.
This US us release also when you compare it to the UK release has a much cheaper looking and feeling box, it is much more flimsy. So if you have the choice I'd pick the UK release but keep in mind you are not getting a remastered sound for your money.

A great buy, December 15, 2010

If you have Vol. 1 of this set, this has more great b-sides and remixes, as well. The set includes six disk, that are numbered. This time you can hear the slient darker sound than from the first Vol. with Alan Wilder. And the industeral influances here. The song writing here as well.
Disk #7 includes the song "Get the Balance Right" along with some bides, one the songs that got really noticed here in the States.
Disk #8 "Everything Counts" that has the one of the most expermental sounds of the time, you can in the influance from the industrial music of the time in this song.
Disk #9 "Love in Itself" has a dark undertone, with the great b-sides on this disk, gives a trip back in time 80's conflicts of the time.
Disk #10 "People are People" the one that really send them over big time worldwide.
Disk #11 "Master and Servent" this track you can hear the more a dark sound, with the S & M feeling.
Disk #12 "Blasphemous Rumours" One there most controversy, song about religon, and interal conflict.
This is a really great purchase, for any fan.
