the best single box collection, November 22, 2002

ok, this is great, i have all bunbury recordings, but this is
a great adition to my collection, i recomend specialy the single
"el jinete" that one by itself should be consider one album, because it includes many songs never before release, in general this colection has some of bunburys masterpieces, that i think he believe nobody would understand or like. apart from the songs we allready heard in the original albums, he includen a incridible live performance of "confesion"recorded in argentina,
some demos with a very good sound and some incredible covers from musicians that have nothing to do with the self name "bastard rock" that bunbury proclaims. also he sings in english a couple of john lenon songs. not many times in your life you lisen to one artist that really hits you in the heart, this is the kind of music enrique bunbury is given to us today.
it is very diferent to any other mexican or spanish music, it is a combination of rock, spanish folklore, midle eastern sound and a litle bit of jazz, all of this is included in this singles collection, so there check it out by your self (i saw his new live show in a small club in tijuana, it was killer, if you have chance check his show)

A great idea brilliantly executed, July 29, 2005
This review is from: Singles (Audio CD)
When recording what would be his second album (and his best so far) `Pequeno', Bunbury (Ex-heroes Del Silencio Lead Singer) recorded so many songs in the studio that when the moment came to release it, many songs had to be left out. Bunbury is an artist who tends to sing covers in his live performances, and some of those were recorded during the `Pequeno' sessions.
So, having so many unreleased material something had to be done, it was decided then that all these rare tracks would be released with the singles of the album. We are talking about five singles that total 35 songs between singles, demos, rarities, covers and live performances. All the tracks included here expand the musical experience of listening to Bunbury, we not only get to listen to the songs he writes but also the songs he likes.
El extranjero
This single includes 5 tracks. `Luna' and `Feliz año', a very bohemian version of `Voy a perder la cabeza por tu amor' originally written by Manuel Alejandro and the studio version of `El jinete', that would be released later in his live album `Pequeno Cabaret Ambulante'
Infinito
Seven tracks including `Un hombre en el espacio', `Nada' an unbelievable John Lennon cover `Watching the wheels', an acoustic version of `Servidor de andie' from his first album and a live performance of the tango `Confesion' originally recorded in Argentina for the first time.
El viento a favor
Seven more tracks here, highlights are a rare version of `El viento a favor', `I.P.D.2', an excellent demo of an unfinished song `Don y Maldicion' and `Un poco de juego'. An awesome version of `Who by fire' original by Leonard Cohen is included here, Copi is unbelievable in this track.
De mayor
A nine track single (almost an album!) with alternate versions of some of the songs from `Pequeno', an acoustic blues is included here `Estrellas' (the lyrics are excerpts from the book `El principito') and a quite interesting demo of `Algo en comun'
El jinete
This is maybe the most interesting single of them all as it is filled with rarities and covers. `Con el alma en los labios' a beautiful ballad with an even more beautiful music arrangement, `Necesito', a cover of Radio Futura's `Han caido los dos', `El tiempo se va' originally called `No time this time' by The Police, a Beatles cover `Come together' in a very unusual arrangement but quite enjoyable, and a poem by Ruben Dario, musicalized and recited by Enrique.
An excellent compilation of all the previously unreleased tracks, a very good complement for the album `Pequeno' that throughout the five discs demonstrates why Bunbury is considered the great artist he is, his ideals, philosophy and influences are all present in this box set.
