If you don't have this cd, you're plum crazy!!! This cd is the CREAM of Rosemary Clooney lustrous career. here she is in top form singign romantic standards, and as the reviewer chinaman points out, Scott Hamilton is playing sax all thru this perfectly done cd. This is perhaps the finest sessiosn of Clooney's career, and a lovely jazz vocal album.

I am a major fan of Rosie's,and this is one of my favorite cd's of her ballads. Her voice gets better as time marches on, and I've had the joy of seeing her live 3 times in the last few years. She still enjoys performing and going into the studio to record great music, and it shows. Enjoy!

Scott Hamnilton's jazz sax, backs Clooney's husky voice, with loads of sexiness. a great set of great songs. Clooney sounds great in thsi quartet setting, with guitar anf sax. Awesome cd

Without a doubt one of her finest recordings ever!,
This review is from: Sings Ballads (Audio CD)
This cd is one of Rosie's best, the other two that I would recomend that are as good or better than this is my alltime favorite Rosie "Songs For The Duration" and a younger Clooney with Duke Ellington on "Blue Rose." However this cd might just be her msot warm, romantic and intimate cd, with the smooth tenor sax of Scott Hamilton, and Clooney's smooth as ever vocals, and a great selection of songs... This is the perfect cd to get, to discover the msuic of Rosemary Clooney

"magical moments frozen in time ~ Rosie Clooney",
This review is from: Sings Ballads (Audio CD)
Concord Records presents musical moments from a bygone era when singers were featured in the Big Band arena ~ loved and respected by all is the "Girl Singer". Producer Carl E. Jefferson gives us "Rosemary Clooney Sings Ballads", featuring ten tracks of lyrical interpretation with expressions of ease filling the air. This album speaks in a special way leaving no room for doubt with "THANKS FOR THE MEMORY", the Bob Hope signature theme is a real treat that Clooney completely overwhelms her fans with ~ "A NIGHTINGALE SANG IN BERKELEY SQUARE", only Rosie's rare talent and distinctive voice could make this tune a hit again ~ "BEWITCHED, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED", the unforgettable Rodgers & Hart song from "Pal Joey", a musical moment perfectly performed by Clooney taking us back in time ~ "DAYS OF WINE & ROSE" along with "EASY LIVING", blends warmth and her joy of singing, she's at the top of her form. Outstanding arrangements are wall to wall by John Oddo, gives each tune a timeless touch ~ featuring the one-and-only Rosie. Those who take a listen to this album will agree, the "Girl Singer" is a crowd pleaser ~ her memory will never fade...gotta love it! Total Time: 43:02 on 10 Tracks ~ Concord Jazz 4282 ~ (April 1985)

I don't know who chooses the songs that Rosemary records, but there needs to be a change made in the repertoire. I know it is almost impossible to please every fan, but let's try to.Rosie has too good a talent to waste on subpar material. This cd had the potential to really be great, had better material been used. I will continue to support Rosemary, but i'm really not a very happy camper about her cds. Rosie, please try to record better material in the future. Recommendation: Despite me giving this cd a 3 star rating, I can not recommend this cd. |
