Songstress Sarah Vaughan has the power to make magic with music using the most important instrument of all, her voice. With an amazing 3 octaves and more, Sassy, as she is fondly called, sings the best of Broadway music in her most inimitable style. Listen to one of the greatest female voices of the century belt, cry and whisper some of the most important songs from the musical theater stage and screen we have grown to love through the years.

If you are a Sarah Vaughan fan, you will want this in your collection.
Hard to find.

This by far is one of my all time favorite Sarah Vaughan albums.It truely
presents on both full discs her brilliant and supernatural range.Everything is here but her soaring,fun and adventurous scatting.You
definitely can experience her impeccable vocal theatrics and feel her concentration on the importance of certain words and verses for the
proper impact of each song. It definitely sounds as though she had more
creative freedom here as compared to the Gershwin recordings and the lyrics on these particular tunes are far more interesting and colorful.

One of the greatest jazz singers, Sarah Vaughan, was also a great pop-singer, one of the best produced by the USA. However, although some interpretation's on this album are quite acceptable, and some of the material quite intriguing, the arrangements used by Hal Mooney's orchestra are at times really IRRITATING (only a handful of songs is recorded with other orchestras).
Even when the emphasis is not on the strings, the music still sounds corny...
Just in order to be sure I'm not too strict (being a jazz fan) i gave this album more than one star.
