The Man behind the hits,

This review is from: Sings His Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Quick question, who was the writer of Elvis Presley's hits, All Shook Up, Don't be Cruel, and Return to Sender? Who wrote Jerry Lee Lewis' classic, Great balls of Fire, or Patti Page's big hit, Fever? The answer is they were all written by the same person, Otis BLackwell, a black man from Brooklyn. The irony is that it is almost impossible to find albums by Blackwell himself. This is why we should be grateful that Audio Book and Music has released this compilation of some of Blackwell's best known songs. Most impressive is that Blackwell's versions are the equal of or superior to the better known versions. This is a sad commentary on American music, that Blackwell is not known as well as Presley, Lewis, or even the Coasters, who covered his Searchin', which is also on this CD. If you like late 50's and 60's rockabilly and also smoother sounds done in a soulful style Searchin' is worth your time and money.
