Definitely Worth The Money, December 23, 2002
This review is from: Sings the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Audio CD)
First off: Ana, I do not think you can objectively review this CD by just looking at the song list.
I bought this CD in 1993 as a student attending University, and I paid A LOT of money for this CD; it was also extra expensive because I got the imported Japanese version. It was definitely worth the money; for many years, I was one of the lucky few in Canada (and North America) with this CD. This was the only CD where you could hear Sarah Brightman sing such a wide array of Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful songs. I do not even agree that "The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection" and "Surrender" CD's, which came years after, diminishes the value of this CD; I do not believe that you can find her singing "I Don't Know How To Love Him" (which is sung most beautifully) and "Any Dream Will Do" (which is a true delight) in any of her other CD's; the songs "Tell Me On A Sunday" and "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" (re-recorded for this CD) are different recordings than those of "Surrender".
Overall, this is a wonderful album for Sarah Brightman fans. My suggestion is to get the Australian version; it is cheaper than the Japanese version and has an extra song, "Amigos Para Siempre".

Best musical investment I ever made., September 22, 2010
This review is from: Sings the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of Ms. Brightman's work, and like any fan, I just had to get this CD to help complete my collection. No one is better at singing Andrew Lloyd Webber's music than Sarah Brightman, and this CD showcases her amazing talent at a relatively early stage in her singing career.
If you have "Sarah Brightman: The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection" and "Love Changes Everything" (If you live in the US, that is. I have no idea what has been released in the UK), you already have most of these songs, but not all of them. The versions of "Memory", "Tell Me On A Sunday", and "Wishing You Were Somewhere Here Again", included here were re-recorded exclusively for this album in 1992, and in my opinion sound fresher and more expressive than any of her other covers of those songs.
Some people have complained that her voice wasn't strong enough by this point. What recording were they listening to? Sarah's voice sounds beautiful, and is clear and sweet on the ears. She's definitely improved from "The Songs That Got Away", though not much can top her work on "Phantom", which is nothing short of perfect.
"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" is probably my favorite on this whole album. Sarah sings words with crystal-clear enunciation and doesn't resort to a deeper "operatic" voice in getting the high and low notes as I have heard on her more recent albums. It literally sent chills up my spine. It was just electrifying. I think it sounds better than the version on the "Phantom" album. I also really enjoyed "Memory", which wasn't high-pitched and girlish like it was on the ALW collection.
The cut of "Phantom of the Opera" included here is not my favorite because it is the early rock version with Steve Harley, who is not at all suited to be the Phantom. For that the only man suitable is Michael Crawford, who's sweet tenor always sounds so pleasant when coupled with Sarah's sparkling soprano. Anyway, Sarah is always perfect and lovely, and it is interesting to here slightly different, if somewhat campy lyrics, sung to a beloved and essential Phantom song.
I can't say I would recommend getting only this album if you're interested in Brightman/Webber collaborations; the others have other songs worth listening to, and I find I like having all four of Sarah's CDs that feature ALW songs to have a complete selection, but I certainly wouldn't pass this one up.
Do I care that many of these songs are available on other Sarah Brightman releases? No, because the four tracks that haven't been released any place else in the U.S. (Like I said, I don't know about the UK) make buying this album totally worth it. I also enjoy the good mix of songs that there are, which if you had only the other two, you'd have to keep switching discs. It's nice to have some of the best all on one CD. The booklet has a nice write-up on Sarah on the back cover by Mr. Webber himself, and inside are complete lyrics to every song.
In conclusion, if you like Sarah Brightman, you should definitely consider adding this great album your collection. You won't be disappointed.

Sarah Brightman sings the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, March 22, 2006
This review is from: Sings the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Audio CD)
This is the first Sarah's Andrew Lloyd Webber Compilation album, am I wrong?
By now you should have other options like The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection, Surrender, Encore or Love Changes Everything.
Buy it if you are a collector or if you are less complex and want just one album of Andrew's Music you could buy this one and play it in random instead of having the other 4 albums...or whatever.
I just want to recognize this album, besides the CD cover looks kinda cute, don't you love it?
