An album for your lazy Sunday afternoon,
By Sandy (Brussels, Belgium) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sings Salvadore Poe (Audio CD)
Do you know those lazy afternoons when everything you're in mood for is install yourself comfortably in your sofa with a full tea pot, a good book and your purring cat on your lap? This is the perfect album to fit that mood. The bossa nova/ jazz mix is relaxing and keeps a light smile on your lips. It is also a nice album to play when having dinner for two, or to keep your temper and put up with the time you spend stuck in the traffic.I usually prefer female voices a little deeper and stronger, but Lisa Ekdahl one fits those songs perfectly. It slips on you like a fragile bird feather and adds to the cozy atmosphere of the album. Whatever the weather might be, it will build a warm intimate mood like candlelight do. Her little accent, strange at first, is part of the charm of her voice and interpretation. The general impression of comfort is reinforced by the sweet poetry of the lyrics. The comparison to Bebel Gilberto is rather appropriate. I am not listening to Jazz or Bossa Nova and I never listened to any recording of this artist before, but this album pleasantly surprised me.

the girl from Stockholm,

My review is going to be very short: this album is just excellent, even if some critics have said that there is nothing new, and Lisa Ekdahl sings very very loud, like a child. Do we always have to sing like Nina Simone, Diana Krall, to get some respect of the "critics"?Just one point, please Lisa Ekdahl, don't sing in french: I've listen the french version of "Daybreak", it's just horrible!!! In the name of jazz, don't do it again, do your stuff, you are great.

Best CD I ever heard. I know I am only 25 years old... but it is really terrific.

My first Lisa Ekdahl album,

This is my first Lisa album , and it is absolutely wonderful . Salvatore Poe 's combination of lyrics and music arrangement is sensual and catchy at the same time , and goes well with lisa's breathy phrasing. Her voice is a really unique with hints of "little girl" but manages to sound mature on the whole .Initally i couldn't get used to her accent but after listening to the CD a few more times it's really not a problem . My favourite track is "sunny weather " where she really exhibits really good voice control .
