Singsation - what a sensation!,
By Rebecca "rebecca546" (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Singsation (Paperback)
You know when I first read the inside cover of this book, I didn't think I would find any interest in it. That's because the plot focused on stardom and the main character's desire for singing, etc.. and singing really wasn't my passion. I'm more geared toward novels about women in business (interior designing, architecture... along those lines). But I took a chance on the book because of the reviews I've read. I must say I truly enjoyed this book. It was interesting to read how Deborah was determined to keep her focus on God especially where there where numerous opportunities to be faced with great temptation. I liked the way that she was able to share her faith with Triage, Phoebe, Vianca, Emerald and the other characters without wavering. In her moments of doubt, thanks and praise, I liked that Deborah would run to her heavenly Father and stay in a constant prayer with Him developing a bonding relationship. Also, the family bond between Deborah and her parents <that was expressed throughout the novel> was really touching - more realistic. I'm glad to see that there are more and more "romance" novels like these on the horizon. So far Jacqueline, Victoria C. Murray and Stephanie Perry Moore are my top three favorites. Their novels focus on actual relationships with God through Jesus and I thank God for these women who continue to bring a fresh perspective to this industry.

An inspiring work,
This review is from: Singsation (Hardcover)
In Villa Rica, Georgia, Deborah Anne Peterson knows God expects her to share her talent to sing like an angel. Thus, she especially enjoys her time at the Mountain Baptist Church, but desires more from her voice and her life. She wants to perform at packed stadiums with fans screaming for encores. This is quite a dream for someone who has never left the state. Everything changes when famous rapper Triage Blue comes to the church and hears Deborah Anne sing. He loves what he hears and soon helps her obtain a deal as a background singer for popular R&B star Lavelle Roberts. However, the Roberts tour is a far cry from the small church of under a hundred praying patrons. Instead temptation in terms of parties sends her down a path away from God. At the same time her salvation may be in her love for Triage. SINGSATION is an entertaining African-American Christian romance that will surprise readers with its lead characters' willingness to talk about sex and even share heated kisses. The story line is fun as Deborah Anne struggles between her roots and her new world. Though her success in a Guinness Book record time seems stretched, fans will still sing along with Jacquelin Thomas. The author provides an invigorating look at the music industry and a freshening up of the sub-genre by enhancing the Christian message with a more realistic world than usual. Harriet Klausner

I thought this book was very good, it grabbed me from the beginning to the end. I have to to say I thought this book was going to be boring, but it definately wasn't. I was a combination love story and following your dreams God's way. Being a teenager I thought it was very inspiring to follow your dreams and to always put God first. The ending couldn't have been anymore PERFECT!! I loved it and definately recommend this book, you won't be disappointed!

I am a Jacquelin Thomas fan but for some reason I never chose to read Singsation. I think it was mostly because I have no interest in the music industry. Well, I finally decided to give it a try and let me tell you I was more than pleasantly suprised. This book is written extremely well. The characters are wonderful and so is the message. I was so touched the end when Debra came to to the revelation of how she would use her gift, interwined with the memories of her friend's words that I actually began to cry. It moved me in a way that I never expected. Being in God's will is a number one priority for me and Debra Ann's discovery of that was awesome. This novel was truly inspired by God and I thank Jacquelin Thomas for doing God's will and writing it. Don't pass this one by!

Christian Romance That Warms The Heart and Represents JESUS,
By Kathy SR (Louisville, KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Singsation (Hardcover)
This book was given to me at Christmas as a gift and it took me three months to get around to reading it. I selected it as an air travel book and I am glad that I did. This is the first pleasure book that I have wanted to and have actually read twice (and all in four days). When I opened this book to begin reading it I knew I would find at least one thing about it I like since it is a book about a black female and I could identify with this. I seldom read the jacket of a cover especially when it is given to me by someone because I don't want to insult the gift by never picking it up based on a few excerpts. When I opened Singsation I had no idea that I would enjoy the book and that it would help me to begin to move beyond my failed marriage to laughing and enjoying love again. Deborah Ann is who we all wish we could be at one time or another. Not just a star but a strong Christian woman that does not waver in her faith no matter what the situation is. The delight in the book came from being able to identify with the woman, the environment, and the spiritual. No, Singsation is not real life but it is the most delightful and heartwarming way to start building a foundation for real life. The author provided a road map for Christian living using real life examples of the things Christian woman come up against everyday. Jacquelin Thomas made this 40 plus woman feel young again. I am definitely praying for a sequel and Jacquelin don't change the fantasy. It's ok to step out of reality. Sisters, READ THIS BOOK. Love will take on a new meaning.

Christan novel,
By "July Lady" (MS United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Singsation (Hardcover)
Deborah Anne has the chance of a lifetime to become a backup singer for a big time singer, but she don't plan on letting that lifestlye take away her christanity. Deborah is not used to all the parties, and nasty talk of the others on the tour with her. She also had to deal with her love for Triage, a rapper from her hometown. Can Deborah keep God first, read and fine out.

Jacqueline Thomas jumpa from Romance to Christian Comtemporary and does not miss a beat. Her ability to weave romance and Christian Comtemporary Fiction in the novel Singsation demonstrates her well rounded writing abiliies. Deborah Anne straight from a small town in Georgia gets her wish and is discovered by Triage, while singing in church. To make her dreams come true, she has to move to California. Deborah learns that its takes more than just singing to be a good performer. She meets all kind of people with all kinds of issues and she can only witness to them, it is up to them to accept what Deborah knows to be true. For sure, Deborah has been trained and brought up in the Word, and she does not compromise her lessons, though at times the road gets rough, and the temptations are great. But she sticks to what she knows best. This was a wonderful Christian novel. It was not preachy, but taught a lesson that could be applied to many situation. I am looking forward to great things from the authors with Walk Worthy Press.

By Vanessa Woodward (Journey's End) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Singsation (Hardcover)
Meet Deborah Anne from a little country town called Villa Rica, GA. Deborah Anne has a gift which God gave her and that was the gift of song. During the course of this story, Debroah was use to singing in the church were she grew up. One Sunday Triage came to church with his grandmother and discovered Deborah Anne's hidden talent and wanted to help her further her career. Once Triage got a chance to talk to Deborah Anne and convince her to send in a demo tape of her songs, her life began to change. Deborah always dreamed that one day she would be a "Super Star Singer" and that dream came true. God opened the doors for her and what she did with it was her decision. But Deborah had to endure a lot first before she came to the conclusion that the one door God needed to open for her was her own door. The door that would allow her to sing the type of music God intended for her to sing. Go through the trials and tribulations of a wonderfully written novel were dreams can come true. "Singsation" is a delightfully written novel and I would encourage you to enjoy the message deep within the story ...Dreams Can and Do come True.Congralutations Ms. Thomas on yet another Great novel. You have a tremendous gift and I hope that God continues to Bless You on Your Journey...
