Music of my heart,
By Patrice Moua (Troyes, France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Singulier 81-89 (Audio CD)
I have always loved Jean Jacques Goldman's music. He is amazing and the lyrics of all of his songs are extremely profound. This compilation is one of the best, I can listen to it over and over again without ever getting bored... especially "Puisque tu pars," which is my all time favorite song... get yours today!. now... go!.

There's very little I can say about this album to be honest. It's completely changed my perspective on music in general, and French music in particular. 4 years after I purchased this 2-CD set, I still listen to it religiously.
My favorite songs include "La-Bas", "Puisque Tu Pars", "Filles Faciles", "Comme Toi", and "Envole Moi"... There are very few less-than-excellent tracks on this masterpiece. Jean Jacques Goldman's work is truly legendary, both as a writer and a singer. This album serves as a general look at his beginnings as a solo artist. I would recommend this whole-heartedly.

I spent my junior year abroad in Paris in 1985-1986, and you couldn't go anywhere without seeing or hearing Jean-Jacques Goldman. That was definitely HIS year. I wasn't crazy about him at first, but he sort of grew on me. Then PAS TOI came out. I loved that song. After I returned to the US, I liked him enough to keep track of anything of his that came out...ENTRE GRIS CLAIR...I loved it. I still love it. His style is unique; we really don't have anyone like him in the US. His music and style remind me so much of Paris. Singulier has all of his best stuff on it. Besides PAS TOI, I love PUISQUE TU PART. Beautiful. His earlier stuff is more pop, later stuff is more accoustic. Romantic, poetic.
