5.0 out of 5 stars Serial Killer Metal at it's best
I bought this way back when it first came out and never get tired of listening to it. I was sad to find out through my correspondence with Richard Ramirez that he has never been able to hear the song about him from this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is Disgusting!!!
This is the kind of trash popular with the type of kids who flip out and kill other kids in school shooting such as the one in Colorado. Artists like this should be boycotted - don't waste your money on music which advocates and encourages kids to kill.

This album is one of the best Splatter - Grind music I ever heard. With really killer riffs and a incredible drum playing together with the most bizzarre vocals I know this all makes this one a very important item on any real metal fan cd collection in the world.Unfortunately I never heard anything from them after this record, what is really a shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars "I am gonna kill you just because I want to", February 9, 2007
This review is from: Sinister Slaughter (Audio CD)
"Sinister Slaughter" has always, in my opinion, been the best album produced and performed by Macabre. I'm not a huge Macabre fan and rarely listen tot heir other CDs, but "Sinister Slaughter" seems to find it's way to my ears fairly often and I seem to appreciate it the more I listen to it.

"Vampire of Dusseldorf", "Zodiac" and "What's that Smell?" are what I find to be the album's best tracks and are worth the purchase of the album(I can't believe the price ont his thing---$30.00???...I bought this at one of their concerts years back for like $7.00!!) alone.

The best thing about Macabre has to be their blazing fast drummer. If you think all death metal drummers are fast, try listening to this guy. I'm not sure he stills does it, but years ago, during concerts, he would have to get up after each song and walk around his drum set to avoid cramping his legs. Don't believe me?? LIsten to the double-bass and how fast it is!!!

Great album from an OK band! Hey, even if you don't like the music, this album is worth buynig for the cover artwork alone!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd best metal cd ever!, December 9, 1999
This review is from: Sinister Slaughter (Audio CD)
the 2nd best cd ever only after the band's previous recording, the amazing GLOOM. dennis the menace is by far the best drummer out there, nefarious an excellent bass player, and what can i say about corporate death's singing and guitar playing? i haven't heard anything about my favourite band since this album which is a great disappointment, i just hope that they are still around and coming to new york soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinister Perfection, November 5, 2005

Gunther Haagendazs (Up High in the Trees) - See all my reviews

Macabre delivered an album of perfection after their album Gloom (which was filled with mistakes but still awesome). There isn't a bad song on Sinister Slaughter and other then the nice Reprise of Mary Bell, every song has creative, funny lyrics about famous serial killers or mass murders. These guys are incredible at what they do. They are masters of speed, just listen to the acoustic beginning of What the Hell did you do?!, it's absolutely insane! Songs like Vampire of Düsseldorf bring a wicked grin to my face every time I hear them. The cover art is a parody of the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, in which all the people have been replaced with pictures of the three band members of the band and serial killers. It's absolutely priceless and funny to see the reactions on the faces of people when you show them this. If you want to find a talented, funny death metal band and has something important to say instead of the same old boring topics of Satan and necro this and necro that, then Macabre is definitely a band for you to check out. I always found the real stuff to be much more entertaining then the tiresome topics of bands like Cannibal Corpse, who fail to grab my attention like the way Macabre does. If you like reading and hearing about serial killers, and yet also like heavy metal and have a cruel or dark sense of humor then Macabre is definitely a band for you and you will fall in love with them almost immediately.

Right now this CD is out of print; however you can find it on the Sinister Slaughter/Behind the Wall(s) of Sleep Re-release. I suggest you stay away from that re-release because the infamous artwork has been butchered and there are no lyrics given and the EP name is even misspelled. Hunt both CDs down via the internet if knowing the lyrics and having the original artwork is important to you. Hoped this helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique style from amazing musicians, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sinister Slaughter (Audio CD)
These is one of the greatest metal CD's ever! Macabre, with they're unique style and cyco song-writing has conquered a special place between the roads os Metal! Even to the ones who are not into Metal, have to admit that these 3 guys are exelent musicians! Great bass, great drums, great voices and great guitar!!!! Check also the older album "Gloom/Grim Reality", and the latest MCD "Behind the wall of sleep"!! It's sad not to see them more active, with more albums and more concerts!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Macabre Rules, March 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sinister Slaughter (Audio CD)
With me living in Chicago, I get to see theses guys play, when ever they come around. I have met these strang and unique individuals before and they are very cool. They put on a great show and their songs are short and to the point. The recording sucks but the talent in the band is by far one of the best i have ever encountered. Each and every song is different from each other, and that is a good thing. Drummer is the best I have ever heard, fast and talented. Good Job Macabre and i'll see you when you feel like playing again
