5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Band
Ok. This band is simply unbelievable and original in a genre that really no longer has any innovation. Think Bruce Springsteen meets punk but better. Every song is solid and I do mean every single song. Get this album now. Don't make a mistake and pass up great music.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unlistenable
Over the summer, Amazon.com offered a free download of SideOneDummy's Summer label sampler. One of the best songs on that compilation was by The Gaslight Anthem, which really sparked my interest in this band about which I'd previously heard nothing. Imagine my excitement in what their first album might sound like. Now, imagine my disappointment when I actually listened...

5.0 out of 5 stars HEARTY PUNK FOLK STRAIGHT UP ROCK AND ROLL, July 21, 2010
This review is from: Sink Or Swim (Audio CD)
First song immediately grabs you and the cd takes you back to an innocent time. The songs have a wholesome feel and alot of sing-along points as well as some slower moments to make you think of the past in a reflective like way.

What a ripoff! I don't know what happened between this album and their latest release, "American Slang," but this album sounds like a cheap blending of Bruce Springsteen and Social Distortion. I could only get 2 songs into the album before I had to put on something else. While Mr. Springsteen and Mr. Ness are undoubtedly music icons, it's one thing to rip off his sound and another altogether to pay homage to a legend. Sadly, this album does the former as opposed to the latter.

This album is NOT something I would recommend to another music listener.
