Editorial Reviews

2012 album from the melodic Irish Hard Rock band. As any discerning music fan knows, there are only two kinds of music: Rock and Roll. And in these times of social calamity, financial ruin and uncertain tomorrows, rock 'n' roll remains the only thing that most of us can always rely on. As a result, bands like Million Dollar Reload are to be cherished and celebrated. Formed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, these steely-eyed purveyors of balls-out, barnstorming classic rock are on a mission to put a smile back on your face and few thousand volts up your holiest of holies. Ultimately, it's all about getting the basics right and giving the people what they want.

After stumbling across some songs from their last album (The Last Icon is one of my all time favorite songs), I was excited to hear these guys were getting a major release. I had heard Bullets in the Sky not too long ago, and couldn't wait for this release. These guys just bring straight rock and roll, the way it should be done. These guys have mix sound between GNR and Buckcherry. Bottom line, is they guys deserve major recognition and sure hope people in the states get on board. PICK THIS CD UP and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Here's another band and album I accidentally stumbled across but as a result I have purchased another fine album that I'm quite enjoying, and will look forward to any future releases from the band with interest.

These guys might be from Ireland, but any comparisons to more famous Irish bands are quite ridiculous as these blokes have much more in common with AC/DC and Guns N Roses than U2, The Cranberries or The Corrs. These guys rock with plenty of balls and while there's no attempt to reinvent the wheel with any of their music, that suits the likes of me just fine. I can take this kind of punching hard rock any day of the week thanks, be it from 1975 or 2012. What I also like about these guys is that a sense of rawness, energy (no doubt that of youth) and also authenticity shines through in their music. Rather than trying to be a clone of AC/DC or some of the 1980's LA bands, they have a sound that has elements of those bands but still has a great deal of originality with it, thus creating a sound uniquely identifiable as theirs.

This is guitar driven rock that strikes a real chord with me, and they have a singer in Phil Conalane who has a voice ideally suited to this kind of music and you can tell he loves it. He has the necessary power to belt it out in a Bon Scott kind of way, but he can also carry the more mellow stuff with the necessary emotional tone. The best example of this is on the song Broken which is the closest song to a ballad on the album and has a definite GNR sound shining through. It's also the longest song on the album, clocking in at just under six minutes.

Read my review for Anthems of a Degeneration (Million Dollar Reload's fisrt record), and then buy this! You won't be disappointed! I know this review is lame, but I'd rather spend my time listening to this band! TRUE!

These guys are awesome. They sound like a cross between Buckcherry and AC/DC to me. Just straight ahead in your face rock n roll. Great guitars and great vocals. Check 'em out it'll be worth it.
